My prayer for you for today is that you will always be
prepared so that you will not be surprised when the day of the Lord is upon us,
in Jesus name.

Thessalonians 5:2
For
you know quite well that the day of the Lord's return will come unexpectedly,
like a thief in the night.
Be prepared. Paul writes here in Thessalonians 5 that our
lives must be lived in such a way that we will not be surprised when the day of
the Lord is here. He continues in verse
5 with “For you are all children of the
light and of the day; we don't belong to darkness and night. So be on your
guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded.” This made
me think of Matthew 25, where Jesus told the Parable of the Ten Bridesmaids
"Then
the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten bridesmaids who took their lamps and
went to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and five were
wise. The five who were foolish didn't take enough olive oil for their
lamps, but the other five were wise enough to take along extra oil. When
the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep. "At
midnight they were roused by the shout, 'Look, the bridegroom is coming! Come
out and meet him!' "All the bridesmaids got up and prepared their
lamps. Then the five foolish ones asked the others, 'Please give us some
of your oil because our lamps are going out.' "But the others replied, 'We
don't have enough for all of us. Go to a shop and buy some for yourselves.' "But
while they were gone to buy oil, the bridegroom came. Then those who were ready
went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was locked. Later,
when the other five bridesmaids returned, they stood outside, calling, 'Lord!
Lord! Open the door for us!' "But he called back, 'Believe me, I don't
know you!' "So you, too, must keep
watch! For you do not know the day or hour of my return.
My dear friend, keeping watch means living your life
expecting the return of the Lord every day and do not fall asleep in living a
relaxed life. Live each day knowing He will return soon and expecting Him
prepared like the five wise bridesmaids. Don’t be fooled by the enemy in
thinking that tomorrow is just another day. That is what he wants, he wants you
to be relaxed and postpone so that you will forget. No, you are not children of
the darkness, you are children of the Light, so be on your guard each day and let us who live in the light be
clearheaded, protected by the armour of faith and love, and wearing as our
helmet the confidence of our salvation.
