Today Reminder (Boxes) – 9 November 2017

A reminder for today
I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End [the Eternal One]. (Revelation 22:13)

When you are reading this, I will be well on my way to my parents. Today is their moving day and we are off to help. Now, when it comes to moving I am almost an expert. We moved a few times and I can tell you it was never fun. Even still today our furniture starts to shake when a truck drives by. Now moving is all about boxes. Your stuff goes into the box and then onto the truck and finally at the new destination the stuff comes out of the box. One thing I can tell you is that with every move our stuff got lesser and lesser, because I gave some away that I thought we do not need anymore. Some would think I just made it less and easier to move. I would argue the opposite, but surely everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

When we look at life it is a bit like moving. You see we experience things in life and we box it. This could be a number of events from friendship to pain to heartache to loss and even mistakes. As life progresses we unpack some of those boxes for experience or knowledge or just to remember. Sometimes we unpack pain when the pain box just falls open. As we grow in life and in faith we remove some of those boxes like mistakes and sin and bad experiences. The place is still on the shelf, but the box has no more effect on our lives.

Some boxes we hide deep into our shelf and we only open them when the hurt returns for example the loss of someone. Now think about this: God is the ultimate moving company. He is the beginning and the end. He is the first and the last. He was there with you during every box that you packed, and He helped you move them from the hands of the enemy to the new shelf of grace and forgiveness that He made with wood and nails. When you go back to the shelf and you open one of those boxes, He goes with you and He looks into the box with you. If it is pain, He will comfort you. If it is sin, He will remind you that this box is removed and that you do not own it anymore. If is loss, He will remind you that they are with Him and you will see them soon. No matter what the content is, God will be the one that helps you move it.

As I am driving my thoughts will be with you as I wonder what your shelf looks like, because I know that soon it will be completely empty. When that happens, God will fill your shelf with new boxes that is ready for your new stuff with Him. These boxes will be much bigger, because our God is a great God and when He enters into your life, small is over.

Lord, we thank you for unpacking our boxes and helping us empty them so that we can fill our new boxes with you. In Jesus name.

Have an awesome day, dear friend of Jesus.

Cheers
