Jonathan made a solemn pact with David, because he loved him as he loved
himself. Jonathan sealed the pact by taking off his robe and giving it to
David, together with his tunic, sword, bow, and belt. (1 Samuel 18:3-4)
My dear friend, what a blessing it is to have a
friendship that is sealed and protected. Jesus gave us the way and He showed us
true friendship with a humble heart. He lifted the burdens that we carry and
opened life for us so that we can love freely and truly. What an awesome blessing
it is to have your friendship. I just love the boundless and limitless
friendship we see in David and Jonathan. Their unselfish way of being friends and
their loyalty to each other is so remarkable. I believe that our friendship is
also sealed with a pact that we share in Jesus Christ and this pact makes our
friendship lasting. Our tunic is the Holy Spirit and our sword the Word of God.
Our bow is the gospel that has no boundaries and our belt is the foundation of
our friendship in Jesus Christ.
