A reminder for
today
Love not the world,
neither the things that are in
the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For
all that is in the world, the
lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of
the Father, but is of the world. (1 John 2:14-15)
What a terrible week! We took leave for a few days and on
our second day we found out that the sub station feeding our area with electricity
burned down. This forced us to return earlier and get our generator up and
running so that we can save our food. This financial implication running a
generator and all the odd extras that we had tot fork out took a huge bite in
our tiny budget. To crown it all my manager resigned. She was the last person
that fought for us against a global tyrant that is busy destroying us. To add
to this, they also decided to cancel our quarterly incentive plus there will be
no bonus and no increase. This means that all that was promised to me were mere
warm air. So, you can imagine where I find myself today. I am so motivated to
be back at work.
Despite all the challenges that we face plus our economy
that is in shambles and our government that wants to take away our land and the
people that constantly shout and sings that they want to kill us all. This was
that final nail…
Now, I love to alter direction when we are all gloomy and miserable.
God tells us that we should not love this world and neither the things that is
off this world. Here in John 1 we are reminded of three areas that we should steer
clear from. The lust of the flesh (Physical), the lust of the eyes (Material) and
pride of life (Emotional). These are the things that make us fall so easily and
funny enough this is the same formula that the enemy has used for centuries. We
are misled by physical desires and then we are tempted by material needs that
we do not need and finally power and wealth and pride is the downfall of many.
I always say that no matter what position you have, when you
look into the mirror it is still only you. Yes, more money can add to your
waist line and increase your weight and add to those material needs that you do
not need, but at what cost. Temptation breaks your relationship with God
because you have new gods that you place first. Is it realty worth it? When God
blessed you with success, he must get the glory, not you. When you have more
than other you should share with those in need. Remember that faith without
works is wasted faith.
To end I just want to remind you that our only weapon
against temptation and this world is prayer and spending time in God’s word. Take
your time and read the Word of God and make it part of your life. Pray as often
as you can and spend time with God and listen to His voice. Be patient and be
content with what you have. God will never leave you nor will He let you stand
alone. He has a plan for me and you and I tell you that I may face difficulty
now, but God will take me through this and to a new place. I am patient and I trust
Him and Him only.
Have an awesome day dear friend of Jesus.
Cheers
