Today Reminder - 26 March 2012 (Everything else)

My prayer for you for today is that you will realise the infinite value of knowing Jesus Christ, and that you will discard everything else to become one with Him, in Jesus name.

Philippians 3:8-9
Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For His sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with Him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God's way of making us right with himself depends on faith.

Everything else. In our daily lives we are constantly overwhelmed by books and ideas by people how to live a good life. There are writers with specific steps that you must follow on achieving greatness and then there are those considered great or successful that tells the story of their lives to teach you from their own experience how to achieve a similar greatness as they did or rather a similar success. I guess it is good to follow advice from people that went through a similar experience and learn from their mistakes, yet I always thought that making mistakes is part of learning and growing. It is in our own imperfections that we will long for a perfect example in Jesus Christ. I assume in Paul’s day there were many that saw themselves as the best in knowledge and obviously wanted their ways known to all. Paul says it so nicely: “everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord” and more so he says that he discarded everything else so that he could gain Christ and become one with Him.

My dear friend, take a moment and quiet out the world and all its noise makers and seek Jesus so that you can strive to become one with Him. Above all power and above all success, fame and fortune is God. Do not seek what this world has to offer, but seek the gift of Jesus Christ with an unquenchable thirst  to know Him and become one with Him so that you can become righteous through your faith in Jesus Christ, because God's way of making us right with himself depends on faith.

Have an awesome day, as you become more and more like Jesus.

Cheers

Just to remind you

When I say that 'I am a Christian', I am not shouting that 'I am clean living. I'm whispering 'I was lost, but now I'm found and forgiven.'  When I say 'I am a Christian', I don't speak of this with pride. I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.   When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not trying to be strong. I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.  When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not bragging of success. I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.  When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not claiming to be perfect. My flaws are far too visible, but God believes I am worth it. When I say 'I am a Christian', I still feel the sting of pain. I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name. When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not holier than you. I’m just a simple sinner who received God...

Today Reminder – 7 August 2014 (Day 5 – Return to Proverbs)

A reminder for today Honour the LORD with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine. (Proverbs 3:9-10) When we realise that all we are and all that we are good at is a blessing from the Lord we soon see how we can honour Him with these wonderful talents. I give all the credit to the Lord for all that I accomplish and all that I do and I am humbled by the way He continues to give me wisdom in my work. The promise here is much greater than we realise. When we honour Him with all that we produce, He will fill our barns and let our vats overflow. This to me means that the more we honour Him in what we produce (do) the more He will bless what we do up to the extend where we will see His blessings and they will leave us completely overwhelmed. In the end all that we have comes from God and He will increase what we have when we seek Him above all and live to bring glory to Him. ...

Today Reminder (Boxes) – 9 November 2017

A reminder for today   I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End [the Eternal One]. (Revelation 22:13 ) When you are reading this, I will be well on my way to my parents. Today is their moving day and we are off to help. Now, when it comes to moving I am almost an expert. We moved a few times and I can tell you it was never fun. Even still today our furniture starts to shake when a truck drives by. Now moving is all about boxes. Your stuff goes into the box and then onto the truck and finally at the new destination the stuff comes out of the box. One thing I can tell you is that with every move our stuff got lesser and lesser, because I gave some away that I thought we do not need anymore. Some would think I just made it less and easier to move. I would argue the opposite, but surely everyone is entitled to their own opinion. When we look at life it is a bit like moving. You see we experience things in life and we box it. This c...
