A
reminder for today
So on
January 15, during the ninth year of Zedekiah's reign, King Nebuchadnezzar of
Babylon led his entire army against Jerusalem. They surrounded the city and
built siege ramps against its walls. Jerusalem was kept under siege until
the eleventh year of King Zedekiah's reign. (2 Kings 25:1-2)
These things happened because of the Lord's anger against
the people of Jerusalem and Judah, until he finally banished them from his
presence and sent them into exile. (2 Kings 24)
All the years of angering the Lord and all the kings that
did what was evil in the eyes of the Lord led to this time when Judah and
Jerusalem fell in the hands of King
Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. I was thinking of how great things were for the
people of Israel and Judah when the invaded the promised land and how rich
their lives were when they followed God and did what was right. How did they
end up here and how did they go from following God and living in prosperity to
turning away from God and worshipping idols and pagan gods to end in poverty
losing everything.
My dear friend, this week I feel that the Lord is warning
us against prosperity followed by idolatry. It is easy to forget what God has
done when all is well and our lives are blessed. We tend to forget that even in
these wonderful times God is still looking out for us and none is from our own
ability but it is all from His gracious hand. God is here and He is calling to
you and He wants to confirm His presence in your live and establish a
relationship with you that will look past idols and create a constant focus on
Him so that with every breath you and I will know that He is the one who
provides and He is the one who looks out for us. Nothing should invade our
lives and corrupt our hearts when we are constantly focussed on the Lord our
God.
This week is a week where the Lord just wants us to know
He is there. He is with us and He wants us to relax and ignore all the noise of
this world and just find Him and focus on Him. He wants us to acknowledge Him
and spend time with Him and hear His voice and just listen. He wants us to be peaceful
and forget about all the worries and just completely focus our hearts and souls
on Him. He is my centre and my all and on Him I will focus even when my mind is
in turmoil.
I am
the LORD; there is no other God. (Isaiah 45:5)
Have and awesome day dear friend of Jesus
