A reminder for today
Jesus told him,
"If you want to be perfect, go and sell all your possessions and give the
money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me. (Matthew 19:21)
Good day my friend. How are you? I do hope all is well and
that you are enjoying your time in prayer with the Lord. I love to pray with my
son. It is a thing we do together just before he goes to bed and it is amazing
to spend that specific time in the Lord’s presence. I can see the Lord working
in his life and it is such as blessing.
So what does Jesus mean when He says that you should sell
all your possessions and give the money to the poor? This is a tough one. Sell
everything! Give it all away! Every day I see how the rich drive in their
expensive cars and live in their mansions. Many of them has that entitlement
attitude where they think, because of their wealth they have the right to do
what they want. I saw a woman at school this morning that just parked her
Porsche in the middle of the road holding up the traffic so that she can drop
of her kids. Jesus said that it would be harder for the rich to get to heaven
than it is for a camel to go through the eye of a needle.
Now getting back to selling your possessions. And all the believers met together in one
place and shared everything they had. They sold their property and
possessions and shared the money with those in need. (Acts 2:44-45). This
is what the Lord meant. He meant that instead of living in a mansion, you could
stay in a normal house and give that money to the poor so that they can also
live in a house. Drive a normal car so that your money can help those who need
transport. Jesus meant that we share what we have so that no one will live in
poverty.
It is sad to see so many good Christians become corrupted by
their wealth and their uncontrollable desires to have more and bigger and
better. Our goal is to have treasure in heaven and therefore we should share
what we have with those that does not have. Why am I telling you this? I am
reminding you that this life is not the life we will live. This life is a mere
drop in the ocean compared to what we will have. Why would you try to hoard up
in a temporary environment when you can have so much more in eternity?
"Yes," Jesus
replied, "and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or
brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or property, for my sake
and for the Good News, will receive now in return a hundred times as many
houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and property—along with
persecution. And in the world to come that person will have eternal life. But
many who are the greatest now will be least important then, and those who seem
least important now will be the greatest then." (Mark 10:29-31)
Lord, I pray that we will have humble hearts and hear your
call to help those in need. Let us give, form what we have so that we can have
treasure in heaven. Show us and teach us to give as you did and let us wear
your armour so that we can defeat the enemy. In Jesus name.
Have an awesome day dear friend of Jesus.
Cheers
