And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that
thou shalt cut it down. (Luke 13:9)
Jesus tells the parable of a fig tree where the landlord tells
his worker to dig it up if it does not bear fruit. Many of us knows the saying
that we must bear fruit. What kind of fruit do you bear?
As a Christian or rather a follower of Jesus we need to remember
that to bear fruit does not mean carrying your bible with you, it means living
out your bible. Paul gave us a summary of the fruit of the spirit. Once you
give your life to Jesus and the Holy Spirit is your guide you should have the
following fruits of the spirit: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,
peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance:
against such there is no law. (Galatians 5)
The worldly side to it is described by Paul as: Now the
works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication,
uncleanness, lasciviousness (looseness; irregular indulgence of animal desires),
Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions,
heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the
which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they
which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
So, what this means is that a life for Jesus is so far
removed from the worlds expectations that we will stand out. It is with love,
peace and gentleness that we will defeat the enemy, because he is all for hate
and anger and lust and destruction. You can see it in the world around you. Where
people will rather listen to their worldly desires and not to God. just take
the divorce rate or look at people in traffic or see how people behave when things
are not going their way. You can see the lack of spiritual fruit so quickly and
the worst part is most of those people go to church every Sunday.
Are you a Monday morning atheist or are you a Paul, that will
praise, and worship God chained and beaten in a cold and terrible jail? The difference
is not the circumstances but the perspective. You see when I look at this world
through the lens the world created, then I will have a destructive reaction. But
the moment my perspective change and I see the world looking from God’s
perspective I will soon realise that all this anger and hate is not helping. In
fact, it makes me a bad person and it pulls me away from my purpose.
So, come with me as we take every challenge and react with
love, peace and gentleness while we are generous towards other with love and
understanding. Giving, glorifying and living a spirit filled life.
Have an awesome day.
I love you, my friend in Jesus.
Cheers
