A
reminder for today
The
king, with the queen sitting beside him, asked, "How long will you be
gone? When will you return?" After I told him how long I would be gone,
the king agreed to my request. (Nehemiah 2:6)
How was your weekend my dear friend and how are you? We had
such an awesome weekend with a wonderful dinner with friends on Saturday and
finally unpacking the last boxes after we moved into our new home. It is such
an amazing blessing and to see the boys play outside and having fun surely adds
on to the wonderful grace that God has given us.
Nehemiah wanted to go to Jerusalem to help rebuild the
city. He was king Artaxerxes’s cup bearer and needed the king’s permission to
go. The king asked, "Well, how can I
help you?" With a prayer to the God of heaven, I replied, "If it
please the king, and if you are pleased with me, your servant, send me to Judah
to rebuild the city where my ancestors are buried." (Verse 4 and 5) Nehemiah
prayed that God would make the king understand and allow Nehemiah to go.
In a life of change we often need people to understand
and to either allow us to do something or hear what we are about to say. To take
your need to God in that moment is so important for God can change the heart of
people and help them to understand just as the king did when Nehemiah asked him
to go to Jerusalem. Yet we seem reluctant at times and we would rather not ask
God and try and convince someone by ourselves.
My dear friend, I have so often seen God’s hand at work
with people that it is of no value to you to try and change someone on your
own. Let God change the heart as you place your request. In the end if it is
God’s plan you will have success and whoever you are working with will be
touched and changed by God.
Come with me today and let us not try and change the
minds and hearts of people by ourselves, but instead let us take our request to
the Lord and ask Him to touch the hearts of people so that their eyes will open
and their minds be changed. If it is God’s plan it will surely happen just as
we requested. Trust God for this change but also make sure that it is what God
wants you to do.
Dear Lord, please touch the hearts of those we work with
each day so that they too will see your glory and allow our requests as we
bring them in prayer to you. In Jesus name.
Have and awesome day dear friend of Jesus
Cheers
