Today Reminder – 22 February 2016

A reminder for today
"Don't be afraid, Mary," the angel told her, "for you have found favour with God!” (Luke 1:30)

The best definition of the word favour is “demonstrated delight.” The favour of God can be described as “tangible evidence that a person has the approval of the Lord.” When we favour someone, we want to be with him or her. We delight in him. We connect with her in a way we don’t connect with everyone. We usually favour people who also favour us. In the same way, God shows favour to the ones who delight in, connect with, and give honour to Him. Isaiah 66:2 says, “These are the ones I look on with favour: those who are humble and contrite in spirit, and who tremble at my word.” Second Chronicles 16:9 says, “For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong on behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.” To be “perfect” toward Him means we seek His favour more than we seek the favour of anyone else, even ourselves.

One way to obtain favour from the Lord is to seek wisdom. Proverbs 8:35 says, “For those who find me [wisdom] find life and receive favour from the LORD.” Psalm 5:12 says, “Surely, LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favour as with a shield.” Finding favour with the Lord keeps our lives and thoughts pure because we desire to please Him more than we desire to please ourselves. Hebrews 11:25 says of Moses, “He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin.” When the same can be said of us, we know we have found favour with God. His delight in us will be demonstrated.

Lord, give us the wisdom to seek favour in you more than we seek favour in ourselves. Let us follow your voice and do your will so that you will favour us. Please give us the strength to place ourselves last and put others first. In Jesus name.

Let every knee bow down and every voice declare that Jesus Christ is the Lord.

Have and awesome day dear friend of Jesus.

Cheers
