Reflections of faith (People) – 20 December 2018

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. (Matthew 1:21)

We should be people minded people. You know I have my fair share of anger issues and irritation with people especially if I was hurt by them. But how are we supposed to react and how should we handle situations where we get irritated and angry. The last two months I failed miserably at this and I got so upset at what happened but reflecting on this I realise that all my anger and irritation did not change a thing.

You see getting upset and angry is part of our human nature, but God says that you should forgive (and forget) forty times forty times. Basically, you should always forgive and let it go. The problem is the hurt and the pain that we go through we tend to hold on so much that we kind of get addicted to it. So, we end up in a place where we start to depend on that addiction and instead of forgiving and moving on, we hold on to this.

Can you imagine Josef who was getting ready to marry Mary and finding out she is pregnant? What went through his mind and how did he feel? I would be upset and angry and I would surely not want to marry her, but God intervened, and the angel told Josef what happened and what he must do. Basically, God spoke to him and guided him not to make a mistake. You see Josef also had a moment where he needed to work though his emotions and he needed to forgive even though Mary was innocent in the process I can guarantee you Josef needed a moment.

So, when we reflect on faith today and we look at how we should treat people, we should always have a forgiving attitude regardless of the sin. I know from my experience that God can carry you through any pain and through any type of hurt. The problem is that we should be willing to move past it and forgive it and follow God’s voice, because that voice that tells you, you cannot forgive is not God.

In the end that little boy that Mary gave birth to became a man and gave His life for all our sins. Why can we not do the same and forgive those people in our lives and amend broken relationships and friendships and turn away from the world’s way and back to God’s way.

Have an awesome day dear friend of Jesus.

Cheers
