Today Reminder - 01 February 2013 (What example)

A reminder for today
Do not fall into the trap of following their customs and worshiping their gods. Do not inquire about their gods, saying, 'How do these nations worship their gods? I want to follow their example.' (Deuteronomy 12:30)

What example?

If you were to sit on the edge of a cliff with a few friends after a day’s hard and strenuous climb and while sitting there some of them decide to jump. Would you follow their example and with no thought for the imminent death that awaits you, jump over the cliff?

Off course not, unless you are a few cells short of a full house. Well what is interesting is how we can easily allow people to influence us. Moses talks to the Israelite people and warn them about following the ways and customs of the people they will meet in the Promised Land. Moses advises them not fall in that trap.

My dear friend, how quickly do we pick up the bad habits of our colleagues? When you are in an office where foul language is often used, do you slip and find yourself using the same kind of language? How do you manage the influences in your work environment?

This is one of the toughest choices people must make and most fail at it. Do we just fall in and fit in or do we stand for Jesus and let His light shine from within us? I challenge you today to be Jesus and be crucified for being Him. To put it plainly, do not follow the ways of the wrong crowd but the ways of God and accept the laughs and remarks that come your way. Jesus said in Matthew 5: "God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers. Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way.”

I pray that you will stand unmoved in the midst of all persecution for the sake of Jesus, in Jesus name.

Have an awesome day dear friend of Jesus

Cheers
