A
reminder for today
But
Rehoboam rejected the advice of the older men and instead asked the opinion of
the young men who had grown up with him and were now his advisers. (1 Kings
12:8)
Rehoboam became king after his father Solomon died. He got
an opportunity to rally the people behind him, but instead of listing to the
advice of his older and wiser advisors, he listened to the younger ones that grew
up with him. This caused rebellion under his people. When all Israel realized that the king had refused to listen to them,
they responded, "Down with the dynasty of David! We have no interest
in the son of Jesse. Back to your homes, O Israel! Look out for your own house,
O David!" (Verse 16)
My dear friend, how do you take advice? Are you open to
advice and do you accept being corrected even if is by someone much younger than
you? I guess we are all open to advice but we have our restrictions. What we
must remember is that God can send anyone to us to advise or to help us. It is
how we react to the advice that will later result in either our success and
understanding or our misdirection and possibly disaster. What we must do is
accept advice, but always measure it against God’s will. God will always
confirm His decisions by either sending a second person or through His Word or
even by Himself. So do not always jump in and accept, always test it against
God’s will, because the more we do God’s will the closer our relationship with God
becomes and the easier it will be for us to identify a false message.
My dear friend, listen to wisdom and experience and
humbly accept God’s teachings, because it all happens so that we can be better
prepared for what lies ahead. God has a purpose with everything, we must just
remain patient.
Have and awesome day dear friend of Jesus
Cheers
