Today Reminder – 13 July 2017

A reminder for today
And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. (1 John 3:23)

How are you, my friend? We had an amazing time in the Kruger National Park and I must admit that I did not want to come back. Once you are in the bush and you are away from traffic and city noise and you have the peace and quiet of God’s amazing creation around you, you don’t really want to give that up. I love the bush and I love to spend time marvelling at the wonders of an almighty God. I have no desire to be at work today.

John reminds us about the commandment Jesus gave when He pretty much summarized the ten commandments. John starts off with brotherly love and reminds us that Cain killed his brother because Abel’s works were righteous works. So, John says that we should not be surprised if the world hates us, because we know that we have moved on from death to eternal life though Jesus Christ who gave His life for us. He reminds us that we should do the same. John also states that if you are in a good financial position and you see a fellow brother of sister suffer, you should help them. If you do not how can God’s love be in you.

The important part here is love. We should show love, because God is love and though love we can show God to the world. God made us out of love and in His image. If we react with love in all that we do we are true ambassadors of the Kingdom of heaven. It is through love that we overcome all evil. You cannot hate another brother, because hate is as good as murder and there is no eternal life for sin. Therefore, be the very image that God is by showing love to everyone.

Lord, break our hearts for what breaks yours and let your love shine through us so that we can show you to those who does not know you. Let our hearts be the measure of your love and let us break evil by answering with love. In Jesus name.

Have an awesome day, dear friend of Jesus.

Cheers
