Today Reminder (Tree) – 28 November 2017

A reminder for today
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. (Matthew 1:23)

We took out the Christmas tree yesterday and placed all the decorations on it getting our home into the joyous and festive feeling that comes with Christmas. Putting up a tree is not something I used to do, I believe there is a little pagan idolatry in it. I also never said that santa brought the presents. I made it my goal to teach my children the truth from the start. So, my kids know that santa is not real and just a made-up fantasy to take away the real meaning of Christmas. What do you guys do? I suppose the western world will all have trees with presents under the tree as we celebrate Christmas with friends and family.

Firstly, I love Christmas, because we can celebrate the birth of our saviour Jesus Christ. But I also have an issue with Christmas, because if we celebrate the birth of our Lord, then why is santa in the picture. Now many will try and talk old santa into the picture and give you many reasons why it is acceptable. But what does the Lord say about this?

Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. (Jeremiah 10)

Now does that sound familiar. You see we took a pagan believe and connected it with our Bible and then we made it acceptable even though we know our God said that He is the only God and we cannot worship any other. Santa is satan’s way to lead us away from God. You see the world made santa a god. He has grey hair, sits on a throne and travels the heavens in an instant brining gifts to children. Jesus said that we must bring the children to Him, but now santa says we must bring the children to him. Santa only bring gifts to the children that was good, so we also create a fear in children for santa and not for God. You may think me wrong, but if you look at what Christmas has become, you will see that there is no Jesus in Christmas anymore. It is a money-making scheme driven by desire and lies. Why would you tell your children a lie about an old man that does not exist when you can teach them about a God that really exists. Our values have moved from God fearing to trying to exclude God. Take a moment and consider the consequences of making the wrong choice. I will continue to teach my kids the true meaning of Christmas and I will explain the real gift that the world received. I will make it clear that the gifts they receive are from God because He blessed us so that we are able to have something to remind us of His gift in Jesus Christ.

Lord, change the hearts of our country so that we will celebrate Christmas for the real reason and give you all the glory. Let our people turn back to you and please hear our prayers and heal our land. In Jesus name.

Have an awesome day, dear friend of Jesus.

Cheers

Just to remind you

When I say that 'I am a Christian', I am not shouting that 'I am clean living. I'm whispering 'I was lost, but now I'm found and forgiven.'  When I say 'I am a Christian', I don't speak of this with pride. I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.   When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not trying to be strong. I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.  When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not bragging of success. I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.  When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not claiming to be perfect. My flaws are far too visible, but God believes I am worth it. When I say 'I am a Christian', I still feel the sting of pain. I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name. When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not holier than you. I’m just a simple sinner who received God...

Today Reminder – 7 August 2014 (Day 5 – Return to Proverbs)

A reminder for today Honour the LORD with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine. (Proverbs 3:9-10) When we realise that all we are and all that we are good at is a blessing from the Lord we soon see how we can honour Him with these wonderful talents. I give all the credit to the Lord for all that I accomplish and all that I do and I am humbled by the way He continues to give me wisdom in my work. The promise here is much greater than we realise. When we honour Him with all that we produce, He will fill our barns and let our vats overflow. This to me means that the more we honour Him in what we produce (do) the more He will bless what we do up to the extend where we will see His blessings and they will leave us completely overwhelmed. In the end all that we have comes from God and He will increase what we have when we seek Him above all and live to bring glory to Him. ...

Today Reminder (Boxes) – 9 November 2017

A reminder for today   I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End [the Eternal One]. (Revelation 22:13 ) When you are reading this, I will be well on my way to my parents. Today is their moving day and we are off to help. Now, when it comes to moving I am almost an expert. We moved a few times and I can tell you it was never fun. Even still today our furniture starts to shake when a truck drives by. Now moving is all about boxes. Your stuff goes into the box and then onto the truck and finally at the new destination the stuff comes out of the box. One thing I can tell you is that with every move our stuff got lesser and lesser, because I gave some away that I thought we do not need anymore. Some would think I just made it less and easier to move. I would argue the opposite, but surely everyone is entitled to their own opinion. When we look at life it is a bit like moving. You see we experience things in life and we box it. This c...
