Today Reminder (Example) – 23 February 2018

A reminder for today
Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. (1 Timothy 4:12)

It is Friday and it was a long week. I am looking forward to the weekend and getting a little rest. I have been struggling with a number of injuries, so training is harder than usual. I often think that maybe it is time I stop competing and just train for fun, but then the competitive side kicks in and then we try again. I must admit I enjoy competing and it gives me a goal to work towards.

One of the most important things of being a Christian is keeping the goal in your view at all times. Paul writes here in 1 Timothy 4 verse 8: For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

He basically tells us that to be healthy and fit is not nearly as important as godliness. This holiness is how we live our lives focussing on the promise of life as we have it and life that is yet to come. Paul tells us not be affected by other but to keep to our task and be an example to other in word (in what we read in the Bible), in conversation (in what we say), in charity (in the way we love and give), in spirit (in our passion for Jesus), in faith (in our trust in God) and in purity (in our true reflection of living out the word of God).

It is in this way we are different and set apart from the rest of the world to create a need and desire in other to seek Jesus. It is how we love as the Lord loves and how we are willing to face any challenge for His glory. It is our faith and trust in the Lord, that becomes a beacon of hope in a world that truly needs Jesus.

Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee. In the last verse Paul says that in keeping the rule or policy of the gospel we will not only save ourselves but everyone that hears us.

So, today I am reminding you that you must not give up and continue to live a life that brings glory to God. It is in this unselfish way of life that you will give life by leading people to the Lord. Your efforts are never in vain and your work are never useless.

Lord, please strengthen us and guide us. Show us the way and let us live lives that brings glory to you. Let us be a light that guides other out of darkness and into your light. In Jesus name.

Have an awesome day dear friend of Jesus.

Cheers

Today Reminder (No one) – 22 February 2018

A reminder for today
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:39)

This an amazing verse and Paul plainly explains how vast God’s love is. No distance in space or astronomical perspective can isolate us from God’s love. God’s power is everywhere; there is nothing that can encompass any domain that is outside God’s dominion. Nothing in the complete created realm can part us from God’s love. Anything that we can imagine cannot separate us from God’s love in providing eternal security. Paul left no contingency whereby something or someone might separate us from eternal life.

The basis for our assurance is God’s faithfulness to His own because of Christ. The foundational ground for our assurance is the death of Christ; the Father handed Him over “for us all” (v32). The “God who justifies” can do so because of Christ (v33). Our Defence Attorney at the Father’s right hand is God’s solution to the issue of eternal security; He intercedes for us (v34). Nothing can separate us from the “love of Christ” (v35). “We are more than conquerors through Him that loved us” (v37). Now God’s love will never leave us.

What a crescendo of God’s blessings! This is the majestic conclusion to what God has done in Christ. Everything rests on the certainty of what Christ did for us. There is emphasis on Jesus as “Lord” here. He is sovereign Lord of the entire universe. That is another reason we can consider ourselves as eternally secure.

Satan will point out the extent and enormity of our sins, calling attention to the strictness of God’s justice. God’s answer is that Christ died for those sins. The way we repel doubt is to rest on the work of our Saviour, our Mediator. His work for us is stronger than any contingency. Our assurance of salvation rests on the work of our Redeemer.

Lord, thank you for this assurance that we have in your love and that we know nothing in this world and beyond can separate us from your love. You hold us safely in your hands and we glorify your name for the amazing gift we have in Jesus Christ. Lift us up today and let us share this love with everyone we meet. In Jesus name.

Have an awesome day dear friend of Jesus.

Cheers

Today Reminder (Deliver me) – 21 February 2018

A reminder for today
Deliver me, O LORD, from mine enemies: I flee unto thee to hide me. Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness. (Psalm 143:9-10)

I woke this morning to a cloudy and cool Pretoria. Rain lies on the horizon as the day breaks into a busy and wet city. I walked out into the brisk cool air and I looked up at the skies above and I just surrendered to my Lord. It is my desire and a deep need to know my God and to learn all I can about Him and His Word. I know that our battle is not against flesh and blood and I can see how our prayers are starting to create change. Our new President is part of our prayers and now we will see our country change and start to grow again.

There is going to be a revival in this land. I can feel it. The Lord said that He is going to do something new and now everyone can see it. The one thing that we need most now is that the Lord will deliver us from the attacks of the enemy. It is also imperative that we do God’s will and follow His direction.

So, today I am reminded that the Lord will deliver us from evil and we will seek refuge in Him and we will find freedom. Let the Lord teach us to do His will and let His Spirit lead us into the land of uprightness (morality and decency). It is where we will show His love and lead other to the Lord. It is our freedom that we have in our Lord that gives us the ability to confront evil and be a light in this world. Let your light shine today and let your ways be God’s ways. Reconcile to the Lord and follow His example.

I know my failures are my teachers and I know we will be able to take on any challenge, because with our God we can do anything. We will make it and we will show people the way back.

Lord, fill us with your Spirit and guide us through this day so that we can touch lives with your word and lead people away from sin and back to you. In Jesus name.

Have an awesome day dear friend of Jesus.
