And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You,
command me to come to You on the water.” (Matthew 14:28)
Today is my little girl’s birthday and you can imagine it is
hard not being able to see her or talk to her due to the nonsense that one
person started for her own selfish gain. I know it will all be over soon and
the truth will come out and that God is fighting this battle for me, but it
still hurts and it is still hard and I miss her so very much.
Peter is on my mind since yesterday and I will share with
you why. Peter got out of the boat and walked towards Jesus on the water. Joyce
Meyer once said that sometimes we should get out of the boat, but I feel we should
get out of the boat every day. Life is like the ocean. Sometimes it is quiet,
sometimes there are waves and sometimes there are storms and even hurricanes. Sometimes
we sink because we fear the waves and the wind and sometimes, we sink in quiet
waters because the world and our own carnal desires make us lose focus and we
begin to make God a 911 God. We only call when we need Him.
Walking with God should not be a once in a while moment when
we feel like it. Walking with God should be an all-time thing. In our good and
in our bad and in our in-between times. In fact, it should be an every minute
type of thing.
A few years ago, before we got divorced, I had an encounter
with God, but I would say an unexpected one. You see my circumstances and emotional
abuse at that time had driven me to fatigue and I faced severe financial
problems over it all and the stress and lack of sleep made me make mistakes in
my work. God stepped in and in a moment it all changed, but it had a
ripple effect and my entire work environment changed in such a way that it was
noted by my managers and commended on. You see when God changed my circumstances
He changed my identity. He took a man who was broken and hurt, and He showed me
that He is in it with me and that gave me more than confidence, it changed my
heart. It changed my mind.
My battles at home were still there but the peace of God overtook
all the lies and the abuse and the hurt and the pain. It changed my direction
and I guess the enemy did not like that.
What I am trying to say is that God is always walking with
us even if we do not walk with Him. I walked with Him in that time but it was
more a casual walk and I guess a place of comfort walk. In that encounter that
all changed because now I started to desire more and the direction of my life
started to get in line with the purpose of my life.
When you step out of the boat today (out of bed) there is
only one thing to consider, to remember and to apply. Keep your eyes on Jesus. He
is the way, the truth and the life. He alone is the answer in all the types of
oceans we walk into, and He alone can change your storms. Give it all to Him
and trust His way, His will and His timing. He steps in when we the time is
right and when He steps in, things change and sometimes radically. My dear friend,
God is right there with you right now and He is listening. Tell Him all about
it and hand it over. God says in Psalm 91:15, “He shall call upon Me, and I
will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him
and honour him”.
This is a promise and just as God changed my circumstances
and as He going to change them again, He will also change yours. Just have
faith because “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the
word of God (Romans 10:17)”. In other words, read the Word of God and speak the
Word of God. There is power in your words, so speak life over your
circumstances.
I love you my friend. Have an awesome day.
