A reminder for
today
Because we have these
promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that can
defile our body or spirit. And let us work toward complete holiness because we
fear God. (2 Corinthians 7:1)
Yesterday was a public holiday here in South Africa as
everyone went to the poles to vote for local government. People all over our
city went to their respective wards to make their cross against their party. I stood
in the queue listening to the people around me and I thought about God’s
promises. How God promises to take care of us and help us when we are in need. How
He loves us and how He watches over us. I heard the people talking about their
plans for the day ahead and what they still wanted to do. Everyone seemed so
calm and collective. Every person has an expectation from the outcome of the
election. Just like that we have an expectation when we commit our lives to
Jesus.
It is the enemy that continuously tries and defile our
bodies and leave us ashamed and lost. But when we have God in us we become holy
regardless our mistakes and our past. We make a conscious decision to turn from
evil and live a life where we cleanse ourselves from everything that can defile
our bodies and our spirits. We start to live differently as we work towards
complete holiness.
Let go of the past and look ahead at the light that awaits
you. Steer away from evil and everything that could make you fall. Seek the
Lord’s voice in every decision and listen with you heart.
Lord, we ask that you give us the strength and knowledge to
live a life where we steer clear of evil so that we can prosper in your name.
