Today Reminder – 02 Augustus 2016

A reminder for today
And what union can there be between God's temple and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God said: "I will live in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they will be my people. Therefore, come out from among unbelievers, and separate yourselves from them, says the LORD. Don't touch their filthy things, and I will welcome you. And I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the LORD Almighty." (2 Corinthians 6:16-18)

This is quite an interesting scripture. Paul writes here about the influences people allow into their lives that is not from God. We allow unbelievers to have an impact on who we are and we often follow their ways. Think about celebrities and how quickly people are influenced by what they say and do. We do not condemn their mistakes, we see it as part of being who they are, yet we are quick to condemn other when they make mistakes. Especially people close to us. We allow the celebs to do what they want and we continue to follow them, but we are angry at those close to us. Sometimes in such a way that we do not talk with them ever again.

Paul writes about your body as a temple of God and that God’s temple and idols can have no union. We cannot follow God but keep idols in our lives. We cannot live for Jesus and abuse our bodies. I believe that I must get the most out of my body therefore I train every day, but physical training is not all the body needs to prevent the darkness to enter. We need spiritual training also. God makes it so clear that He lives in us and walks among us. He will be our God and we will be His people.

So today I want you to honour God with your body and refrain from abusing it. Keep away from substance abuse and watch what you eat. Eat what is enough and not too much. Chocolate is good (so I say) but too much is bad for your body. Eat healthy options and spend more time with God so that your body will become a super temple of God.

Lord, we give you our bodies so that we will glorify you with them. Let us make the most of them and give us the knowledge and strength to keep our bodies clean and darkness out. In Jesus name.

Have an awesome day dear friend of Jesus.

Cheers
