A reminder for
today
And you are
living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple. What's more, you
are his holy priests. Through the mediation of Jesus Christ, you offer
spiritual sacrifices that please God. (1 Peter 2:5)
Yesterday was Ascension Day and we trust the Lord for
massive movement in our lives through the Holy Spirit as we enter this weekend
with the global outreach day on Saturday. Take a moment and share your faith
with someone. If we each can change only one life, we can change the world.
Peter writes about the living cornerstone in God’s temple. In
ancient building practices, the cornerstone was the principal stone placed at
the corner of the edifice. The cornerstone was usually one of the largest, the
most solid, and the most carefully constructed of any in the edifice. Jesus
describes Himself as the Cornerstone that His church would be built upon, a
unified body of believers, both Jew and Gentile.
In him the whole building is joined together and rises to
become a holy temple in the Lord.” Furthermore, in the 1 Peter 2, what Isaiah
said centuries before is affirmed in exactly the same words. Peter also
compares us to living stones that God is building into His spiritual temple. This
means that you have a very important role to play in the temple that God is
making. You play a vital role in being one of God’s holy priests. It is in this
role that we are reminded that we must share and spread the gospel wherever we
go.
I love the comparison where we are in an aeroplane and suddenly
the engines burst out in flames and the plane starts to burn. The only way is
for us to jump into uncertainty. In this moment will you show me the importance
of a parachute and how it can save me from certain death or will you leave me
to die? We have the same choice with everyone we meet. We can tell them about
our Jesus parachute or we can leave them to jump to their death. We can tell
them about the benefits, but we cannot force them to take the parachute. Do not
miss out on the opportunity to save a life. It could be anyone from your
friends to your relatives. Trust the Holy Spirit, He will guide you.
Lord, help us to understand that we are a life line to so
many other that could possibly perish. Give us the strength and the courage to
tell all we meet of the hope we have in you. In Jesus name.
Have an awesome day, dear friend of Jesus.
Cheers
