Today Reminder – 9 June 2016

 A reminder for today
Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God's laws, and it never will. (Romans 8:5-7)

We are always in conflict. Our sinful nature rebels against the guidance of the Holy Spirit and often our judgement is clouded by our own desires. We walk into our journey with the best of intentions and as soon as we are confronted by sin we fall. Why do we fall, my friend? Is it because we are allowing our sinful nature to dictate who we are or is it that we place our own needs above the plan that God has for us. Paul says that if we allow our sinful nature to control us it will lead to death. Do you not desire life and peace over death and turmoil?

So today we are going to be more attentive on the directions and guidance we receive from the Holy Spirit. So where we would judge let us speak life. Were we find ourselves tangled into gossip, turn away from it. Where we are tested with unnecessary desires let us stand firm and turn from them. Where we are angered let us turn our anger into love. Where we are irritated let us turn irritation into understanding and where we are weak let us turn weakness into strength. Let us not complain but let us do our work diligently and with eager hearts. Let us be kind and understanding to other and let us live.

Lord today we ask that your Holy Spirit fills our human bodies and lead us on through all our challenges today. Let us hear your voice clearly and let us do your will. In Jesus name.

Have an awesome day dear friend of Jesus

Cheers

Today Reminder – 8 June 2016

 A reminder for today
Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it? Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives. (Romans 6:1-4)

Sin is broken and destroyed by our Lord so we cannot continue to sin anymore. We joined our Lord in death and rose from the ashes of our previous lives to the light that is our new existence. We climbed out of the pit of despair and into the joy of freedom from sin and judgement. We walk differently and we talk differently. We think differently and we understand differently. We are changed by His love and mercy and as we align ourselves more with Him we become more like Him. The more we become like the Lord the more His grace will be highlighted in our lives.

You are free my friend. This means you are free from the darkness that this world brings. You are made perfect in your acceptance of the Lord and you are so special to Him. You are so much more than meets the eye and you are so wonderfully created.

So stand up, my friend, and do not let your challenges get you down today. Remember that you are made free and sin has no more power over you. Do not let people bring you down, because an all-powerful God is lifting you up and watches over you.

Lord, let us flourish in this day and bring praises to you in all that we do. In Jesus name.

Have an awesome day dear friend of Jesus

Cheers

Today Reminder – 7 June 2016

A reminder for today
We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love. (Romans 5:3-5)

This is such an amazing verse. Paul writes that we can rejoice when we run into problems and trials. They help us to develop endurance. Endurance is the ability to endure an unpleasant or difficult process or situation without giving way. He also writes that our problems develop strength of character and this strengthens our hope of salvation.

So to run into difficulties and problems means that we learn to focus more directly on God to help us with our mind set so that we can stay on our journey. Our focus on God creates hope in us for we know that this time here is only temporary and the reward for enduring our trials is far greater than what this world has to offer. We know how much God loves for in us lives the Holy Spirit that keeps us strengthened so that we will not give up.

I do not know your situation, my friend, but I do know we are all facing one or another challenge each day. I know that we will always be under attack, because the enemy wants us to fall. I know that our God loves us dearly and that He will never let the enemy get the better of us. I know that when my hope is on God I have no more fears and that there is nothing that can make me fall.

Stand with me, my friend and let us develop endurance as we live and follow our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Lord help us to stay focussed on you and give us the courage and strength to face all our challenges and never fail. In Jesus name.

Have an awesome day dear friend of Jesus
