Today Reminder – 23 June 2017

A reminder for today
And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. (1 John 1:4)

For a moment, I was in my own little world here. John starts his book with these words: That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life. John was with Jesus when He was here on earth. Like Peter, He too had met Jesus in person and spend time with Him. This verse I used where he says that he is telling us these things so that our joy may be full is just amazing when you think with what type of authority he says this. This is not a mere thought it is an experience he had and saw each day while being with the Lord.

I do not know about you, but it feels like the days before Christmas when you read something like this. We know that the end is near. We know it, because we see how this world is changing. We see it in people and we see it in the destruction that is taking place. We know from the Bible that we will enter into a time of tribulation. A time of suffering that will be worse than anything we have ever seen. Yet, John says here that your joy may be full. Why is he so joyful knowing that pain and suffering awaits every Christian?

He is joyful and he wants you to be the same because he says, “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.” Jesus is our light in this dark world and His light will uplift us in our darkest moments. It is in these moments when we face extreme difficulty that He will shine through us in strength and Spirit. It is in our hardest trials that we will see Him more clearer than ever before. Do not fear what is coming and do not be afraid of the enemy and all his plans to destroy us. Do not worry about this world and what it can do to you. Be concerned about that which is waiting for you. Let your focus remain on the end of the race. We will overcome, because He overcame this world. Death did not hold Him and satan can never stand against Him. He is the way, the truth and He is life. I will not be silenced and I will not fear. I will stand and shout His name out to this world for as long as I can. What a powerful name is the name of Jesus. In His name, we will not fall nor will we be broken. We will be victorious to the end.

Lord, I pray that you will be with us in this day and that you will fill us with strength and hope so that the darkness of this world will flee from us and that your light will shine from us for all to see. Lord in you we have no more fear and we will stand united for your glory. In Jesus name.

Have an awesome day, dear friend of Jesus.

Cheers
