Today Reminder – 25 January 2017

A reminder for today
Even while we were with you, we gave you this command: "Those unwilling to work will not get to eat." (2 Thessalonians 3:10)

How are things on your side, dear friend? Here in South Africa we are blessed with more rain and it is just amazing. Yesterday was a very hot day and today it is cloudy and and rainy. We are truly blessed here. I have this enormous project that seems endless as I battle though it daily. Paul writes about their work and how they worked to eat. They were never a burden to anyone as they followed the Lord’s voice and taught the gospel.

Paul says that if you are unwilling to work you will not eat. This is true in many ways. Literately we will not earn anything if we do not work, which means having a job is yet another blessing and something that we should cherish and do our best each day. But figuratively it also tells us that God will reward those who work. It means that if your work for God you will receive His blessings. Working for God holds in a number of things. We must live our lives according to His guidelines that He set in His Word and keep his laws. We must not hesitate to tell others of Him and we must be ambassadors for Him wherever we go.

Basically you must imitate Him all the time in all that you do. Yes, I know this is not so easy, because an imperfect person wants to be a perfect image of God. But with God all things are possible and even if the world sees an imperfect individual, you carry a perfect message and you glorify a perfect God. In our imperfections God will be glorified when we succeed regardless our struggles. In the end it is all about Him and the more we spend time with Him, the  more we will become like Him. We imitate the people that impacts our lives, so how much better is it that we imitate God because we spend more time with Him than we spend listening to the shallow sounds of a dark world.

So today, work hard, give it your best and strive to be like God. Spend more time with Him and in His Word.

Lord, as we walk into this day we pray that you will guide us and strengthen us. Give us wisdom so that we will excel in our jobs and glorify you as we show you to the world. Let us wear your armour and defeat the enemy again today. In Jesus name.

Have an awesome day dear friend of Jesus.

Cheers

Just to remind you

When I say that 'I am a Christian', I am not shouting that 'I am clean living. I'm whispering 'I was lost, but now I'm found and forgiven.'  When I say 'I am a Christian', I don't speak of this with pride. I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.   When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not trying to be strong. I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.  When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not bragging of success. I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.  When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not claiming to be perfect. My flaws are far too visible, but God believes I am worth it. When I say 'I am a Christian', I still feel the sting of pain. I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name. When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not holier than you. I’m just a simple sinner who received God...

Today Reminder – 7 August 2014 (Day 5 – Return to Proverbs)

A reminder for today Honour the LORD with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine. (Proverbs 3:9-10) When we realise that all we are and all that we are good at is a blessing from the Lord we soon see how we can honour Him with these wonderful talents. I give all the credit to the Lord for all that I accomplish and all that I do and I am humbled by the way He continues to give me wisdom in my work. The promise here is much greater than we realise. When we honour Him with all that we produce, He will fill our barns and let our vats overflow. This to me means that the more we honour Him in what we produce (do) the more He will bless what we do up to the extend where we will see His blessings and they will leave us completely overwhelmed. In the end all that we have comes from God and He will increase what we have when we seek Him above all and live to bring glory to Him. ...

Today Reminder (Boxes) – 9 November 2017

A reminder for today   I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End [the Eternal One]. (Revelation 22:13 ) When you are reading this, I will be well on my way to my parents. Today is their moving day and we are off to help. Now, when it comes to moving I am almost an expert. We moved a few times and I can tell you it was never fun. Even still today our furniture starts to shake when a truck drives by. Now moving is all about boxes. Your stuff goes into the box and then onto the truck and finally at the new destination the stuff comes out of the box. One thing I can tell you is that with every move our stuff got lesser and lesser, because I gave some away that I thought we do not need anymore. Some would think I just made it less and easier to move. I would argue the opposite, but surely everyone is entitled to their own opinion. When we look at life it is a bit like moving. You see we experience things in life and we box it. This c...
