Today Reminder – 7 February 2017

A reminder for today
Never speak harshly to an older man, but appeal to him respectfully as you would to your own father. Talk to younger men as you would to your own brothers. Treat older women as you would your mother, and treat younger women with all purity as you would your own sisters.  (1 Timothy 5:1-2)

How are you today, my friend? My positive attitude is at a all time low today. Whoever said that opposites attract should be jailed and whipped. I am beginning to think that it is easier when two minds think the same, then their decisions will be easier aligned. Well that is just my thoughts. Today we mourn the death of Joost van der Westhuizen, one of the greats in SA rugby who was diagnosed a few years ago with motor neuron disease and fought it for many years until it finally ended his life. He is a legend and did amazing work in helping to seek a cure for the disease and to assist others with the same disease. He was a legend and man just like all of us. He made mistakes and he realigned his life and changed so many people’s hearts.

Just as we mourn his death we also look at those the media here in South Africa misses. The many other that is murdered every day and the farmers that are brutally killed. What happened to respect and where is love your neighbor? They are mere ideas in a very dark world where life has absolutely no value. Paul reminds us of something here I see our youth and many other have forgotten. Never speak harshly to an older man, but appeal to him respectfully as you would to your own father. Talk to younger men as you would to your own brothers. Treat older women as you would your mother, and treat younger women with all purity as you would your own sisters.

Treat other the way you want to be treated and expect nothing in return. That is love. The love we see in a loving God who gave His life freely despite the pain we see today. One kind word can change many hearts. Do not take people or friendship for granted and never take love without giving back. Love changes everything and love can overcome everything.

So today let us be good and nice and kind and show the heart of God to everyone we meet. Except differences (even if it is hard) and show kindness instead of anger. Be the light that so many need and look to God for your answers. Seek Him and take a moment to spend more time with Him.

Lord, please fill our hearts with love so that we can give it abundantly to all around us. Let us shine your light brightly in the dark and open the eyes of the lost. Help us as we put on your armour and fight so that the enemy will run from us. In Jesus name.

Have an awesome day dear friend of Jesus.

Cheers
