A reminder for
today
You should know this,
Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. (2
Timothy 3:1)
We live in strange times. Technology is so advanced and we
live in an amazing digital age. Yet, the world is in turmoil. People are
destructive and there is more and more violence all over the world. People are killed
every day for no reason. I am just looking at Sweden and the US, but here in
South Africa 14 farmers has been brutally killed in the last two months. The
world seems to be on a downhill path. Our budget speech revealed that we will
pay more tax and there is a ridiculous increase on fuel. Everything is getting
more expensive and it seems as if people are oblivious to this. They just carry
on as if nothing is wrong. Paul wrote here that in the last days there would be
difficult times and we are definitely in those times. The day of the Lord is
getting closer and closer. Are you ready? Is your bags packed and all your stuff
straightened out with the Lord?
The hardest thing for me is that so many of us see this and
yet we continue to be as self-absorbed in our own little bubble that we are
blind. We can see that the time is nearing that the Lord is going to return,
but we remain selfish and we continue to idolize ourselves.
What can I say but to remind you that none of this is about
us. It is not about how good you are or how much you have or how successful you
are. It is not about the car you drive or the house you live in. It is not
about your clothes that you wear nor is it how amazing you thing you are.
It is all about God. Moreover, if you cannot put yourself
aside and be more like Him and less like the worldly fool we sometimes are, you
are in trouble. It is time that we start living a live where Jesus is first and
we are last. A life where you show love and respect. A life that takes other in
consideration and a life that is not build on your own needs, but the needs of
other and how you can show Jesus. We must change our focus from us to Jesus and
start to fix up our lives and the areas where we lack Holiness.
The time is now. Do not be the bridesmaids that fell asleep
and was caught off guard when the groom arrived. "At midnight they were roused by the
shout, 'Look, the bridegroom is coming! Come out and meet him!' "All the
bridesmaids got up and prepared their lamps. Then the five foolish ones
asked the others, 'Please give us some of your oil because our lamps are going
out.' "But the others replied, 'We don't have enough for all of us. Go to
a shop and buy some for yourselves.' "But while they were gone to buy oil,
the bridegroom came. Then those who were ready went in with him to the marriage
feast, and the door was locked. Later, when the other five bridesmaids
returned, they stood outside, calling, 'Lord! Lord! Open the door for us!' "But
he called back, 'Believe me, I don't know you!' "So you, too, must keep
watch! For you do not know the day or hour of my return. (Matthew 25)
Lord, I pray for all who read your blog today and I ask that
you help us to get rid of the stuff that keeps us from completely living for
you. I pray that you guide us so that we can be a light for you and influence
those that are lost so that we can have more prepared for your return. Help us
to remain focussed on you and live a life that glorifies you. Let us wear your
amour and lead your people back to you. In Jesus name.
Have an awesome day dear friend of Jesus.
Cheers
