Today Reminder – 10 February 2017

A reminder for today
Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. By doing this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life. (1 Timothy 6:17-19)

It is Friday again and the week just flew by. How are you doing, my friend? How is your faith holding up and how are you doing with all your challenges? I pray that the Lord continues to strengthen you and shower your with grace so that you will prosper and shine. I love to watch the reaction of people in traffic. To see how they react towards their fellow drivers. Sometimes I think some of us (including me) live in a very small world. We drive as if the road belongs to us, we never allow another driver a space and we speed towards wherever we need to go. We get angry with slower drivers and we drive over red robots. We make new lanes when the congested traffic annoys us. Therefore, we can feed our own needs. When you look at people in their cars, you would think we are all atheists and that we have no moral values. Our behaviour should reflect our beliefs and in most cases, it is far from what we say we believe. To follow Jesus is to follow the very origin of love. A God that loves and loves unconditionally, yet we seem to hate more than we love. We are selfish and we love ourselves excessively. We put on our sunglasses a we turn a blind eye.

Many of those drivers drive in their expensive cars and live in mansions while the rest is below their standards. It seems that the richer people get the less they are concerned with the good they can do. It becomes a case of wanting and desiring more. Paul writes that the rich should not be proud and must not trust their money. They must use their money for good and become rich in good works by being generous to those in need. Funny thing is that we see more middle class people doing good and being generous than we see rich people doing so. I guess it has something to do with arrogance and self-idolizing.  So the fact remains that we should not trust money over God and we should continue to work on storing our treasures in heaven. To be a Christian is all about love and kindness. Being nice and polite. Giving and understanding. Patience and respect.

So today do not jump up and give all you have to the pour, but do stand and stand for what is right. Be patient and give other an opportunity. Sometimes we are stuck in traffic for a reason. Maybe to see creation and just take a moment to breathe, or maybe to be the patient one that gives a space for a slower inexperienced driver. Maybe you are there so you can hear the lyrics to a song or maybe, just maybe God wants you to be there so that He can chat with you for a little while. We find ourselves in many weird and difficult situations. What we should stop to do is to be irritated by it, and take a moment to listen to God. Stop trying to see the bad in everything and start to look for the light. Jesus us always there and you might miss the opportunity to make a huge change.

Lord, I pray that you will quiet our hearts and thoughts so that we can take a moment to see and hear you. So that we will be able to follow your voice more clearly and do what you need us for. Let us show love and kindness and in that represent who you truly are. Let us wear your armour fearlessly as we face today. In Jesus name.

Have an awesome day dear friend of Jesus.

Cheers

Just to remind you

When I say that 'I am a Christian', I am not shouting that 'I am clean living. I'm whispering 'I was lost, but now I'm found and forgiven.'  When I say 'I am a Christian', I don't speak of this with pride. I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.   When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not trying to be strong. I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.  When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not bragging of success. I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.  When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not claiming to be perfect. My flaws are far too visible, but God believes I am worth it. When I say 'I am a Christian', I still feel the sting of pain. I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name. When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not holier than you. I’m just a simple sinner who received God...

Today Reminder – 7 August 2014 (Day 5 – Return to Proverbs)

A reminder for today Honour the LORD with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine. (Proverbs 3:9-10) When we realise that all we are and all that we are good at is a blessing from the Lord we soon see how we can honour Him with these wonderful talents. I give all the credit to the Lord for all that I accomplish and all that I do and I am humbled by the way He continues to give me wisdom in my work. The promise here is much greater than we realise. When we honour Him with all that we produce, He will fill our barns and let our vats overflow. This to me means that the more we honour Him in what we produce (do) the more He will bless what we do up to the extend where we will see His blessings and they will leave us completely overwhelmed. In the end all that we have comes from God and He will increase what we have when we seek Him above all and live to bring glory to Him. ...

Today Reminder (Boxes) – 9 November 2017

A reminder for today   I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End [the Eternal One]. (Revelation 22:13 ) When you are reading this, I will be well on my way to my parents. Today is their moving day and we are off to help. Now, when it comes to moving I am almost an expert. We moved a few times and I can tell you it was never fun. Even still today our furniture starts to shake when a truck drives by. Now moving is all about boxes. Your stuff goes into the box and then onto the truck and finally at the new destination the stuff comes out of the box. One thing I can tell you is that with every move our stuff got lesser and lesser, because I gave some away that I thought we do not need anymore. Some would think I just made it less and easier to move. I would argue the opposite, but surely everyone is entitled to their own opinion. When we look at life it is a bit like moving. You see we experience things in life and we box it. This c...
