A reminder for
today
And I want women to be
modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing
and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by
wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes. (1 Timothy 2:9)
Good day, dear friend. It is, yes, it is F r i d a y !!
Awesome, I don’t know why that makes so many people excited. Hee hee, just
kidding. The weekend ahead with just me and the boys, we'll cut the grass, wash the
cars, cook and movie time. Looking forward to church on Sunday. What are your
plans for the weekend? Well, rest should be one, because it was a long week. Maybe
go see a movie and sleep in a bit. Break the routine a little.
Well, today’s verse is an interesting one you might think. I
guess if Paul lived in today’s time he would get a heart attack. It is all
about less is more. The less you wear the more you show. Don’t get me wrong,
the funniest thing is that men are also doing it and that is just not right. It
boils down to marketing I guess. If you want to be noticed you need to
advertise. The only problem is that so many beautiful people get this totally
wrong and it goes both ways. You want to impress someone, so you think a tiny shirt
and a very small excuse for pants will do the trick, because the audience likes
it. It is a little sad what society thinks is appropriate. What is actually
happening is mere case of need and desire that is manipulated by a very cunning
enemy. He infiltrates our minds and make us think that this is fine. And the
best part is, it is everywhere, in magazines on television and on shop windows.
Wherever we go we are confronted by desire. It is also one of the enemy’s best
motivators to get us to fall in our path towards God.
What do we do? Well I guess it is simple, we should resist
the enemy and he will flee from us, because the problem is not seeing, the
problem is the mind and the wrong ideas that the enemy tries to put in it. So it
is not resisting the person, but the ideas of the enemy. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against
evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this
dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 6:12)
So today just as we are about to enjoy the weekend, be
yourself, my friend. It is no need to try and be someone you are not. You do not
have to try and look like someone else, you are beautiful just as you are. You do
not need to draw attention, the right attention will come to you in any case. Listen
to the Spirit in you and follow His guidance. You are perfect in every way.
Lord, let us see ourselves the way you see us so that we can
see how beautiful you have made us. Let us resist the enemy and all his temptations
as we wear your armour. True beauty comes from within and I pray that we will
see and understand it. In Jesus name.
Have an awesome day dear friend of Jesus.
Cheers
