Today's thought - 05 October 2026 (The battle for your mind)

 

How are you, my friend? My verse today is from Psalm 117:2, “For His merciful kindness is great toward us, And the truth of the LORD endures forever”. I want to talk to you about that battle of your mind or rather for your mind. Life as we know is full of challenges and some of them can push us to the limits of our strength and we become exhausted as we struggle to keep going.

The problem remains in the battle between the flesh and the spirit. You see our spirit is already in line with what God purposes and sees in us, but our minds are in a catch up proses. Our minds become the very trip wire that keeps us from stepping into what God has instore for us. Our minds limit us.

Paul writes in Romans 8, “For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God”.

You see when we live according to the desires of our flesh, our carnal self we lose the battle even before it started, but Paul also says, “But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you”.

Now, you need to understand that in the end your mind can damage the relationship between you and God for Paul clearly says that in Jesus we have life and the same Spirit that rose Him from the dead will give life to our mortal bodies. In other words, by the power of the Holy Spirit and His guidance we can put to death our mortal thoughts and bring to life our spiritual thoughts. We can live by faith, and we can be what God saw when He created us.

Satan wants you to believe you are not worthy. He wants you to believe that God is not for you and he wants you to fail. What keeps us from total destruction and complete failure? The blood of Jesus Christ. Jesus did what Adam could not do and that is to live sinless despite all the temptations and in the end become the perfect sacrifice that set us apart from the lies of the enemy and into the peace and righteousness of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The problem is that we tend to believe the lies of the enemy that we fall short of God’s grace when God clearly says in Psalm 117 that His merciful kindness is great towards us. The amplified says it even better, “For His lovingkindness prevails over us [and we triumph and overcome through Him], And the truth of the LORD endures forever”.

This is really important: We triumph and overcome through Him. It is by Him and through Him that we can defeat all challenges and all storms and all sin and all the lies of the enemy. It is through Him and by Him that we live spiritually and not in the flesh. My friend what we forget is if we can think it, it can be done. God says exceedingly, abundantly above all we can think or imagine. So, if you can dream it, God can do more that that. We limit ourselves by our minds and then we lose the fight because we allow our minds to control us when we should control our minds.

We read in 2 Corinthians, “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled”.

Your power is in the Holy Spirit that will help you and guide you, but you need to take captive your thoughts and guard your heart so that you can align your mind with the Word of God. Our fight is not in our bodies but in our minds and in our hearts, but in God we will be able to overcome all that the enemy throws at us – believe it and it will become your reality and nothing will be able to hinder your growth and your success.
