Today Reminder – 03 February 2014 (Day 1 – Love is…)

A reminder for today
The LORD is my light and my salvation— so why should I be afraid? (Psalm 27:1)

This month my theme is all about love. February is valentine’s month so I would like to share a few thoughts around love and what happened to love. How do we experience love and how do we live love to the world. According to the dictionary love is a strong feeling of affection or a great interest and pleasure in something.

To understand love I think we must start at the origin of love. God is love and God so loved the world that He gave His only Son so that we will not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16). God is Love, and His love is very different from human love. God's love is unconditional, and it's not based on feelings or emotions. He doesn't love us because we're lovable or because we make Him feel good; He loves us because He is love. He created us to have a loving relationship with Him, and He sacrificed His own Son (who also willingly died for us) to restore that relationship.

So within this love God is our light and our salvation and all our fears should evaporate in His presence. So, what does it mean that God is love? Love is an attribute of God. Love is a core aspect of God’s character, His Person. God’s love is in no sense in conflict with His holiness, righteousness, justice, or even His wrath. All of God’s attributes are in perfect harmony. Everything God does is loving, just as everything He does is just and right. God is the perfect example of true love. Amazingly, God has given those who receive His Son Jesus as their personal Saviour the ability to love as He does, through the power of the Holy Spirit (John 1:12; 1 John 3:1, 23-24).

So the very essence of love is God and love should start with God, therefore Love is loving God together and knowing that love comes from God who loved us first.

Have and awesome day dear friend of Jesus

Cheers
