reminder for today
For
the word of the LORD holds true, and we can trust everything he does. (Psalm
33:4)
Love
is imperfect… Now our knowledge is partial and incomplete, and even the
gift of prophecy reveals only part of the whole picture!
I guess you will differ from me when I say love is
imperfect. You might argue that love is God and God is perfect. Well I want you
to look at love as we display it and as we observe it. Love seems imperfect
then, doesn’t it? Love seems almost broken and lost. Love seems incomplete.
When you look at how easily love can get angry and how
little time we have for each other. Jip, love surely seems imperfect then. But
why? It is because we look at love through our worldly eyes and we try and love
with our worldly nature. We try and justify love by ignoring our own inadequacies
and we try and restore love with gifts.
We made love cheap by accepting a mediocre version of it.
Yes love as we know it is only partial and incomplete and we only see part of
the whole picture. What can we do to change our concept of love and how can we
uplift our own weaknesses?
The answer is in Jesus. We need to have more of Him in
our lives. We need more time with Him and we need to bring Him more clearly
into our homes. We need to walk in His footsteps and we need to read and speak
His word more often.
Love is perfect once it is lived through and with Jesus
as the centre of your very existence. Then only will love survive everything
that is created to destroy love. God designed love to be perfect and
unbreakable.
Seek no less of love, but for it to be perfect and that
perfection lies in your relationship with Jesus Christ.
