Today Reminder (Courage) – 21 September 2017

A reminder for today
Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. (Joshua 1:9)

It is hurricanes and tsunami’s and there are earthquakes shaking the world. There is a potential nuclear war as North Korea continues with their nuclear tests and the world is in turmoil with strikes happening here in South Afrika. Then there is the doomsday prophets telling us that the end of the world is at our doorstep and above all we are told that global warming is about to melt the icecaps and the world will be flooded. What do we do when we are faced with these kinds of things?
I always take my Bible and I look for what Jesus told us. Jesus said that only God knows when the end of the world will come. He gave us a number of clues to what to lookout for and what to expect in the end days:

Jesus said in Matthews 24 that many will come in His name claiming to be him. He also said that you shall hear of wars and rumours of wars. Jesus also said that you should not be troubled for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet at that time. In Luke, we see the same message but this time it focusses on the one that will come claiming to be Jesus. Notice that this warning is mentioned three times in three of the fist testament books. Jesus makes it clear that there are things that will have to happen before He returns and the coming antichrist is one of them. You can refer to my previous blogs on the antichrist for more info on him.

So, it is important to remember that these commotions (wars, rumours of wars and events) must happen first so that the antichrist can come. These things will intensify and get worse but Jesus made it very clear that we should fear not. Just as He told Joshua to be strong and courageous and not to be afraid, because the Lord our God is with us.

Now, do not let your life be influenced by the world and its desires, but let your focus and desire be in God for the return of the Lord will be as unexpected as a thief in the night.

Lord, thank you for all that you do for us and all that we have in you. Thank you that we know we have no need for fear for you are with us and your strength is our strength. In Jesus name.

Have an awesome day, dear friend of Jesus.

Cheers
