A reminder for
today
I will praise
thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and
that my soul knoweth right well. (Psalm 139:14)
I love to watch America’s got talent and Britain’s got
talent. I love the stories of the contestants and to see how they perform. And
I love to see these humble people come on stage and do something remarkable. I
was so impressed with Mandy Harvey and her performance that I watched it a few
times. She is a deaf singer and boy can she sing. But above that her whole
story is so remarkable that you can’t help admiring her courage. Then there are
many more with such amazing skills and talents that they leave you speechless. I
am humbled by these wonderful people and their gifts.
God made each one of us unique and He gave each one of us a
set of skills and talents that we can use for His glory. We can’t all sing or
dance or face a crowd but we can all use what we have been given and show the
glory of our Lord and the wonder of His creation and that is you and me. I would’ve
loved to be able to sing, because I love music, but that is not my talent. God
gave me a number of other gifts and spiritual gifts that I use for His glory.
The fact is that God made you. He designed you and He
brought all the pieces together to form you. There is no reason for you to feel
inferior of less than any other individual in this world. God knew you before
you were even conceived. He knew how you will come into this world and
regardless the circumstances He stepped in and designed you to be perfect. And the
funny thing is that people with disabilities tend to think that they are
broken, when they are actually perfect in God’s eyes. You see this body and
this life may be vulnerable but the life after this one is the one we should
focus on.
You see, when we leave this temporary body, God will give us
a new body. In the book of 1 Corinthians, chapter 15, Paul talks about the resurrection
and the resurrected body. In verses 35 and following, he states that our
heavenly bodies will be different from our natural bodies, with some stark
contrasts. Whereas our earthly bodies are characterized by mortality (being
susceptible to death), our resurrected bodies will be characterized by
immortality (not susceptible to death). Likewise, while our earthly bodies are
susceptible to decay (corruption), they will become incorruptible (1
Corinthians 15:53). Also, where our natural bodies are prone to weakness (ask
anyone who has reached 40 years of age or older), our resurrected bodies will
be characterized by strength (verse 43).
Therefore, never feel less of inadequate or broken. You are
perfect and you will be more perfect in the end. You are fearfully and wonderfully
made and you are beautiful. So, smile because Jesus thinks that you are just
awesome.
Lord, we praise you for we are fearfully and wonderfully
made. How amazing is the works of you hands and the promise of life we have in
you. Open our eyes so that we will how wonderful we are created and that none
us are broken, but made perfect in you. In Jesus name.
Have an awesome day, dear friend of Jesus.
Cheers
