A reminder for
today
And be not
conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Romans
12:2)
My kids love transformers. We went to the toy shop on Friday
and they each got a new transformer. They love to transform them over and over
as they play. Sometimes these toys can be very complicated and then I am
summoned to help. Luckily, they come with instructions, because the bigger ones
make me think also and it will take a while until we get the hang of it.
When we look at being a Christian, the word transformation
comes into play. You see we accept Jesus as our saviour and the Holy Spirit
fills us with His presence. In this process, we transform from a worldly person
to a heavenly person. We become holy and righteous. But, this is just the beginning,
because from time to time we transform back due to our worldly nature and the
enemy that constantly influence us as we journey on.
You see we get tired and impatient and we fall back to our
old ways. This happens to all of us, we just get into a good Christian rhythm and
then we allow our worldly nature to get the better of us. We conform to this
world and we transform back. I get annoyed and irritated and I will just do my
own thing regardless of what the Holy Spirit said. I would say that I can do it
on my own and I am better of doing it by myself, but God does not work like
that. You see God wants us to transform into heavenly beings that does not
conform to the ways of the world, but turns to the ways of heaven.
God wants us to accept His help and His guidance and to
trust His discretion and His way. He wants us to be lesser and lesser like the
world and more and more like Him. This was His initial plan with us, because
that is why we are in His image. We are His creation and we glorify Him by
being like Him and doing His will. You see we need to renew our minds so that
we can do what is acceptable and the true will of God.
Let’s start with this but it will take time and it will take
work from our side. Luckily we have a book of instructions – The Bible. First,
we should read the Bible as often as possible. Second, we should pray as often
as possible. Thirdly, we should trust His will. Fourthly, we should renew our
minds and let the Holy Spirit fill us with God’s direction and will. Lastly, we
must conform to the will and guidance of God and follow His will in His time. We
must take us out of the picture and place God first.
Lord, be our light and guidance as we follow your voice and
help us to do your will. Make us patient and let us replace us with you. In Jesus
name.
Have an awesome day, dear friend of Jesus.
