A reminder for
today
For my thoughts
are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as
the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways,
and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9)
So what makes someone wake up one morning and decide to
shoot and kill 59 people and injure and wound a whole bunch more? The first
words that fills your mind is lunatic, crazy person, murderer, weirdo and so
many more. But what is behind this man’s sudden attack on innocent lives? People
forget how cunning and dangerous the enemy is and how the lies of the enemy can
destroy people. Hatred and anger are symptoms of the work of the enemy in our
world. It is a terrible thing and our hearts and prayers are with the people of
Las Vegas. The fact remains that the enemy is at work all over the world and in
many cases the hatred and destruction of his hands are not even heard of. We see
it in Africa where many militant groups destroy lives on a daily basis. We see
it in Asia and Europe where people are killed and injured. What do we do with
this? What can we do?
We are the voice of God and His ways are above our ways. We do
not see now, but we will in the end. It is our task to pray and help where we
can. We must support and comfort the broken and hurt, because the return of our
Lord is imminent. We know from what Jesus taught us that these things will come
to pass. We know that in the end there will be many such cases and soon the antichrist
will come to rule. I know you are hurt and I know you are broken, but this life
and this hurt is temporary. I know your loss is great, but do not give up and
do not lose hope. I know you seek revenge, but let the Lord fight this battle. I
know you seek explanations, but do not let the enemy win by leading you astray
with lies and deceit. It is the work of the enemy to use people to do bad
things so that we will turn away from God. Do not let this happen, my friend. Instead
the hurt and loss of this world must pull us closer to God, because we need to
accept and understand that we cannot do this without Him. The enemy will try
anything to break our faith and create distance between us and God in the same
way he used this man to kill those innocent people.
Remember that there is no death for us, there is only
eternal life. Do not look at death as a bad thing, but see it as our doorway to
greater things. When this world kills us, we are saved by grace and love and we
will see the Lord destroy all evil in the end.
Lord, we pray for the families of the people in Las Vegas
and we ask that you send your Spirit to bring comfort to them and to reassure them
of your victory over death. I want to take this moment and pray for all the
other Christians all over the world that is hurt and broken by the work of the enemy
and I pray for strength for all of them. Let your kingdom come, Lord. In Jesus
name.
Have an awesome day, dear friend of Jesus.
Cheers
