Oh, give me back my joy again; you have broken me - now let me rejoice. I want to add on to my message yesterday. I wrote about being grateful and how we miss the little things in our lives and how quickly we forget what God did for us to get us where we are. Give me back my joy is my opening here and to be honest I believe that getting back our joy lies in how we are grateful for everything we have and what we went through. In the midst of our difficulties, God is right there with us. The Bible says in Deuteronomy 5; “The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged”. In Isaiah 45 God says, “I will go before you and will level the mountains; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron”. God has done so much for us and continues to do, so my prayer is “Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal (right) spirit within me”. In other words, make me the man I must be when you saw me before you created me. Renew my thoughts and turn them into thanksgiving so that I will have your joy. Renew my grateful heart so that the brokenness in me is healed and restored. Then let me rejoice wherever I go so that the world will know you are God and in you I will soar like an eagle and run and never go weary. I will have peace and strength to face anything.
