The people will play flutes and sing, “The source of my
life springs from Jerusalem!”
When you read Psalm 87 you would think it is just a
description of the city of Jerusalem and that it plainly depicts the writer’s
love for the city and God’s love for His people. The Holy Spirit puts the word “Belonging”
in my mind this morning as I look at this Psalm and I believe it goes hand in
hand with our 91 days of victory.
In essence this Psalm tells how all people have the right to
be citizens of heaven – “Regarding Jerusalem it will be said, “Everyone
enjoys the rights of citizenship there.” And the Most High will personally bless this city” (verse 5). The writer lists
traditional enemies of Israel - Egypt (Rahab), Babylon, Philistia, Tyre, and
Cush. God declares that people from these nations (all nations) will be born
again spiritually, officially registered as citizens of Zion.
Now coming back to belonging. I love my church and what it has
done for me, and two boys has been amazing. It is in our church that I felt the
presence of the Holy Spirit for the first time like never before. It drove me
to a desire to learn more, know more and experience more of the Holy Spirit. I asked
for more of Him and less of me and as I read books and studied on the Holy Spirit,
I came to know Him for the loving kind and amazing person of God He is.
He is always there guiding, helping and teaching me. If it was
not for Him and His love and strength and guidance I would not have been able
to face the many battles and still continue to face these battles daily. He is
my councillor, my helper, my teacher and my hope when all looks lost and
broken. He is a light to me feet and a lamp in the darkness I face.
Belonging is not just knowing you have a place in heaven. It
is having a place on earth where you come together with fellow believers and
worship the Lord. A place where you have a family that loves and care for you,
a place where you are planted and where you serve the Lord. A place where you
give your tithes, and you give of yourself. Your time, talent and treasure. We are
already living in the kingdom of God and like our Pastor said on Sunday we are
the aliens in this world because we are not of this world. We are mere
travellers moving through this world to our home with our Lord Jesus Christ.
My dear friend, seek the kingdom of God above all else (seek
the Holy Spirit) and its righteousness and all other things will be added. If you
are not planted in a church, look for one where you experience the Holy Spirit
and get planted. You are through Jesus Christ a citizen of heaven and I trust
that the Holy Spirit will fill you with His presence and put you on fire for
Jesus. For the time of our Lord’s return is close and it is so important that
we reach the lost at any cost.
It is not by power or might that I remain standing every
day. It is by the power of the Holy Spirit. You too will see this in your life,
just ask Him.
Have an awesome day, my friend. I love you very much. You are
more than you think.
