91 Days of Victory – Day 90 (2026/05/28)

Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom.

The word brevity has two primary applications, both stemming from the Latin word brevis meaning "brief". In other words, the writer of this Psalm wants us to comprehend the fact that life is short, and we should not waste it but grow in it. He specifically mentions wisdom.

Now when we look at wisdom I have written to you about it previously, but I would like to emphasise Proverbs 9:10, “Fear of the LORD is the foundation of wisdom”. Now we know this fear is not hiding under your bed fear, it is the reverent fear of God out of respect.

Growing in wisdom means growing in knowledge of God and directly growing in respect for God. So, what I am trying to say is that the more time we spend with God, the more we get to know Him, the more we grow in wisdom and the more we grow in respect (fear) of the Lord.

Out of this stream two very important facts and I want to remind you again of them. 1) Gaining knowledge of God means reading His Word. This is the manual into understanding and knowing God more intimately and 2) Your relationship with the Holy Spirit which is vital to your growth in faith and in power. Remember when the Holy Spirit came upon the apostles in Acts, they received power which in turn made them bold to go into the world and preach the gospel, but it also gave them power that flows through them into the people around them.

An important example is in the book of Acts when the man asked them (Peter and John) for alms, Peter looked at him intently and famously said, "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk."

Now in this moment Peter grabbed the man by his hand and pulled him up and he was healed. Now Peter knew that Jesus said we would do greater things than what Jesus did when the Holy Spirit is in us. He stepped into faith with the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit and this man was healed.

Now the same power that raised Jesus from the dead resides in us, thus the same power that healed this man is in us and the same power is what we receive when the Holy Spirit enters us. This power is not an on and off switch that we have which we can use as we please. This power comes from a diligent and close walk with the Holy Spirit knowing Him, hearing Him and acting on His guidance. This comes from spending time in God’s Word, prioritising Him and putting Him first.

My dear friend, life is short so do not waste it away on worldly things and fears but give your time to God and the things of heaven and you will live a life of abundance even when life turns against you for in you is unlimited power, you just need to apply it correct and the Word of God is the first and most important step.

Have an awesome day, my friend. I love you very much.
