Today's thought - 09 July 2026 (Looking ahead)

It has been quite a week. I wrote most of my posts later at night this week because my days are just so full and I struggle to beat the blankets and get out of bed. Yes, I know – terrible excuses but I will try and make a solid case eventually.

I think at some stage the battles and the storms we face get to us in a way and the enemy and his relentless attacks creep in and we struggle. I struggle to get up, I struggle to see why I have to go through all this, I struggle to find the strength and the courage to keep fighting and I struggle to get up. It is almost like a boxer who gets a hard knock and falls to the ground. When you are down you are dazed and confused for a moment while at the same time struggling to find your feet and to get up again. Sometimes we get knocked out and we stay down and sometimes we get up but the blow was so intense that we are still a bit dazed, and a second shot ends the fight.

I love Philippians 3:13, “No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead”.

I’d love to paraphrase this. No, my friend I am by al means not perfect, and I have in no way achieved perfection in my battles. I get knocked down and I get up and I get knocked down again. I get tired and depressed and some days I just want to go far away from all this nonsense. But what helps and what truly sustains me is by forgetting yesterday and day before and the day before and to look ahead at the promises of my Lord and His Word and to consistently seek the Holy Spirit. For I know and I am in no way confused about this. Without Jesus Christ, I am nothing and I will most certainly not survive one day. I am desperately dependant on Him and His Word and His guidance and His strength for only by Him and through Him will I be able to move this mountain and the many other the enemy so willingly throws at me, for when I am weak, I am strong and, in my weakness, God will be glorified for by no way is it me, but all Him who dwells within me.

That is why my verse is from Ezekiel 38:23, “In this way, I will show my greatness and holiness, and I will make myself known to all the nations of the world. Then they will know that I am the LORD”.

In this way all who know me and see what I face and go through will know without a doubt that my God is with me in this and He will be glorified in all my battles and all my enemies will know that He is the Lord.

My dear friend, you are not alone and you are much stronger than you think. So, come with me as we put on our big boy(girl) pants and face this day and bring glory and honour to our Lord Jesus Christ. Remember if God is for us who can be against us.

Have an awesome day.
