I want to
talk to you about Strength and Courage. Our scripture comes from Ezekiel 37:14,
“I will put My Spirit in you, and you shall live, and I will place you
in your own land. Then you shall know that I, the LORD, have spoken it and
performed it,” says the LORD.
The Bible speaks
a lot around strength and courage. Here are a few examples:
God is my
strength and defense: Exodus 15:1–4. ...
The joy of
the Lord is your strength: Nehemiah 8:10. ...
God is our
refuge and strength: Psalm 46:1–3. ...
Strengthen
me according to your word: Psalm 119:28. ...
The Lord is
our strong tower: Proverbs 18:10.
I wrote to
you yesterday about being tired and exhausted and how the enemy will pollute
your mind with negativity. His sole purpose is to render you worthless and to
get you to a mediocre “happy” place. You see sometimes we will live a life that
is ok for us because we have what we need. We have money and a house and
basically all the things we deem necessary to maintain this way of life that
somehow make us happy. We look happy from the outside but inside we are
somewhat empty.
That is
when people live a cellphone/Facebook lifestyle. What the world sees is not
what really is going on. Yes, we go to church, and we have a bible and we go to
our homecell/life group meetings, yet we have a huge void. We try to fill this
void with drugs(legal/illegal), alcohol, lies, deceit, pornography, fornication
and the list goes on.
Some of
these people will also have a huge level of insecurity and constantly try to
alter their appearance with surgery or expensive clothing or anything that will
assist in making them feel better about themselves.
Why? Because
a life for Jesus Christ is but an idea that they maybe hear on Sunday, but it never
takes root in their lives because they are constantly seeking approval in the wrong
places.
Why strength
and courage? Because without Jesus we are nothing. He is the way, the truth and
the life. To have that we need to make the right choices and those choices take
strength and courage. It is easy in the world to make the wrong choices, because
for many of them there are no consequences in this life and we can happily live
on without worry.
Making the
right choices and saying no for what the world has to offer and to have an identity
rooted in Jesus and not in the world takes strength and courage. That is why we
read in Psalm 37:16, “A little that a righteous man has Is better
than the riches of many wicked”. Being righteous through Jesus Christ is worth
so much more. Coming back to Ezekiel 37 where God says that He will put His
Spirit in you. That is the answer and that answer is simply in the Holy Spirit
- 2 Timothy 1:7: "For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but
gives us power, love and self-discipline."
Be strong my friend and make the right choices and say no to
the things that this world offers that will steal your soul and destroy you. He
who is in you is far greater than he who is in the world. So, take time to get
to know the Holy Spirit and follow His guidance.
Have an awesome day.
