Today Reminder - 06 September 2013 (Day 5 - Victories)

A reminder for today
And David said to God, "I am the one who called for the census! I am the one who has sinned and done wrong! But these people are as innocent as sheep—what have they done? O LORD my God, let your anger fall against me and my family, but do not destroy your people." (1 Chronicles 21:17)

“Hey, Hey it’s Friday!!”  It has been a long and challenging week and the best part is that there is going to be many more, but I think in our preparation for the battle that still awaits us and our constant study of the Word of God, we can be successful and victorious at each and every corner.

David, having sinned against God, asks God to punish him and not the people. This once again just astonishes me in the heart and depth of the man God chose to be king. David shows so much character in this one statement and in our week of victories this is one aspect of David that we must make our own. The heart of David and the understanding of the consequences of his acts made this man truly remarkable. He is victorious in this sense, because he took what the enemy intended for destruction and changed it for good.

My dear friend, you and I are in the privileged position of having Jesus Christ as the one that took our punishment so that God’s anger cannot fall against us. Do not think for one moment that God wants to punish you. God wants to see you grow in His love and become the person you are intended and planned to be. So as we stare in the face of all the troubles that awaits us, we stare with a new look of determination, because we know that these problems are not from God. They are deviously planned and executed by satan, and they have but no effect on us, because God is in us and we are in Him. This position of safety will enable us to stand up against any and all challenges and face them head on and fearless.

Our victory verse for today is 1 Corinthians 10:13 - The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.

God will never allow you to be tempted and challenged above your abilities. You can and will defeat all challenges in the name of Jesus.

“The goal of temptation is to make you fall. So it is the devil who tempts you, not God!” – Pedro Okoro

Have and awesome day dear friend of Jesus

Today Reminder - 05 September 2013 (Day 4 - Victories)

A reminder for today
Satan rose up against Israel and caused David to take a census of the people of Israel. (1 Chronicles 21:1)

It is Thursday and what a week it has been so far. How are you my dear friend and are you succeeding with your challenges or are you struggling with them?  When I read this verse I thought for a moment that it must be me. This week I have been burdened with a number of challenges and difficult choices. I feel that the enemy launched a huge attack to try and defeat me at every corner. I have had personal challenges, physical challenges and work challenges. Each taking its toll on my spiritual well-being that led to a point where I felt tired. Where are you in your battles? Are you winning or are you also at a point where you are beginning to feel the strain?

I realised yesterday that I am trying this on my own. I am not giving God His rightful place to defeat my worries so that I can stand in awe once again of His amazing love. My dear friend, the enemy will rise up against us each and every day. Yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. (2 Timothy 3:12) To rise up and be victorious we are still going to face many battles, but the great thing about that is, you are not alone. We are fighting this battle together and we will succeed every day. Come with me today on our journey of victories as we give it all to Jesus and live for His glory. I say “Come what may! Give me your best satan, because within me lives an almighty God. I will fear nothing!”

God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers. Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way. (Matthew 5:10-12)

“God expects you to have the mentality of a conqueror. See yourself as a victor in Christ Jesus, and go about life with a holy swagger!” – Pedro Okoro

Have and awesome day dear friend of Jesus

Today Reminder - 04 September 2013 (Day 3 - Victories)

A reminder for today
These Philistines were descendants of the giants of Gath, but David and his warriors killed them. (1 Chronicles 20)

How did you do in your challenges yesterday? Were you victorious or did you slip here and there? I had some victories and I had some loses as well. It is funny how little things can sometimes make us slip and fall when we could actually defeat the enemy and listen to the voice of God and follow His direction. A huge advantage that the enemy has over us from time to time must be anger and humility. We get angry over nothing and we tend to place our own needs ahead of others even when it isn’t necessary. These tiny things in life can so quickly become giants that we struggle with each day and later evolve into self-idolising and fear.

My dear friend, we must mobilise our prayers and focus on the things that we think is insignificant, because they lead to greater loses in our lives. David and his warriors defeated the giants of Gath. You and I need to defeat these tiny giants in our lives in order to be fully victorious in Jesus Christ. The enemy knows our weaknesses and he will continue to taunt us where we are vulnerable. It is important that we place these issues at the feet of Jesus and ask Him to help us defeat them and to open our hearts and ears so that we will follow His advice when we are faced with the same situation. When we do not allow our own selfish needs to take away the opportunity of displaying the love of Jesus, then our victories will be so much greater. So my dear friend, that brings me to our victory verse for today.

He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less. (John 3:30)

The greater Jesus is in you and the less you will allow your own selfishness to determine the outcome of every situation, the stronger you will be with the lesser slip ups.

“Purpose gives rise to discipline, restraint, and self-control, which are crucial, fundamental tools for success in the journey of life.” ― Pedro Okoro

Today Reminder - 03 September 2013 (Day 2 - Victories)

A reminder for today
When Hadadezer's allies saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they surrendered to David and became his subjects. After that, the Arameans were no longer willing to help the Ammonites. (1 Chronicles 19:19)

I was wondering this morning what your day was like yesterday. What did you face yesterday and what are the challenges that lie ahead for you today? My dear friend, I am carrying you in my heart today as we step out into the battle field. You see David defeated Israel’s enemies and in such a way that their allies stopped to support them and were no longer willing to help them.

In our life battles we are constantly at war with the enemy and God is always there to help us and strengthen us. We need to stand together in prayer as we face the challenges that await us, so that the enemy will fear us and our allies. Therefore my dear friend, I will carry you in my heart and in my prayers, because if we stand together we will not be defeated so easily.

Our victory verse for today is John 16:33 – “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world."

The joy of knowing that Jesus overpowered this world and that this brings peace in our lives is so comforting. My dear friend, in the midst of all that we may face today, remember that Jesus defeated this world and it does not have any power over us anymore. Let Jesus be on your lips and in your heart during each trial and every sorrow.

It is the fight alone that pleases us, not the victory. (Blaise Pascal)

Today Reminder - 02 September 2013 (Day 1 - Victories)

A reminder for today
So the LORD made David victorious wherever he went. (1 Chronicles 18:6)

It is Monday again and do hope that you had a wonderful weekend. This week I feel that the Holy Spirit wants to lead us into a time of victories, whether they are personal or work related or even physical but victories we will have and we will glorify the Lord with each one.

David became king and his way of life was so pleasing in the eyes of the Lord that David was made victorious wherever he went and no one could defeat his army. God said that David was a man close to his heart and I believe that it was due the way that David loved God and kept His word that God admired that about David and therefore made him so victorious.

This gives us a good idea where to start our life of victories. Step 1: Using the Word of God as our guide, studying it and living according to the principles outlined in God’s Word.  For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. (Hebrews 4:12)

My dear friend, our victory verse for today is Philippians 4:13 For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. Jesus is our strength and let us start our journey of victories this week by accepting Him as our saviour and giving our hearts to Him so that He can renew our spirits and strengthen us against the challenges that awaits us. Let us take on today with Jesus in our hearts and filled with His unlimited strength so that we will glorify Him as we defeat our problems at each corner.

Rise above it!
