My victory and honour come from God alone. He is my refuge,
a rock where no enemy can reach me. Today I want to remind you that seeking God
and placing Him first in your life should always be a priority. Why do we fail and
why do we fall, because for a moment we lose sight of that. The very fear of
God, the respect we should have for Him becomes a distant thought and we step
into the trap before us. The only way the enemy will not be able to get to you
is when God is your refuge. The very rock you stand on. How do we accomplish
this? We must consistently seek God above all else and we should seek to obey
His commands and walk the path set before us. Why are we attacked, because we
become a thorn in the side of the enemy and he does not like it. When we align ourselves
with the Word and we follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the enemy will
come with every cunning trick in the book, and he will throw at you anything
that he can get. James writes in chapter 4 – “Resist the devil and he will flee
from you”. True resistance is impossible without first surrendering to God's
will and authority. "Resist" comes from the Greek word anthistemi,
meaning to "stand against" or oppose, implying an active, aggressive
stand rather than a passive one. When a believer stands firm in faith and acts
on God’s authority, the devil will "flee" - meaning to run away or
retreat. Resistance involves using Scripture and faith to fight against the
devil’s lies and temptations, similar to what Jesus did in the wilderness. That
brings me back to Psalm 62 verse 12, “Surely you repay all people according to
what they have done”. It simply states that God is both loving and just and it
reminds us to trust in His judgements and not in man or man’s wealth. That is
why I say as for me and my house, we will follow God. My friend, truly seek God
and let Him be your refuge and your rock. Have an awesome day.
