The people could not enter God’s rest because of their unbelieve. When the scouts returned from spying the promised land, they were afraid of the inhabitants and chose not to trust God but instead fear overwhelmed them. They looked at what lies ahead from a worldly perspective and ended up in the wilderness.
Hebrews warns us against this type of unbelieve and that many times we stand before our promise and fear, or doubt keeps us from it. Sometimes we truly need to get out of the boat and into the stormy ocean before us. Why did Peter start to sink? He looked away from Jesus and saw the waves and the wind and fear entered.
From a bold step out into the ocean to a scream for help when he began to sink. This was a man that knew the ocean and Jesus, yet he allowed fear to sink him. The Israelites had God’s promise of a promise land. They walked through the sea on dry land and watched their enemy destroyed and yet they too were overwhelmed by fear when they stood at the very gateway to a new life.
My dear friend, this morning God reminds me that there is nothing He can’t do and there is no battle He cannot overcome. The important thing is that we should always trust Him no matter the size of the giant or the power of the waves in our storms. He is for you so who can be against you.
Have an awesome day.
