I think this verse comes at a time when we all carry our burdens and the very world around us seems to have gone crazy. Jesus plainly says that you will have difficulty and you will have sorrow, but take heart (be of good cheer), because He has overcome (succeed in dealing with, defeat) this world and its ruler. Jesus clearly says in verse 24 “Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy”.
Now we know that God works in His time and in His will and we often feel weak and lost and as if we need help, but I tell you this, we have more than help, we have an almighty God with us and Jesus called Him the helper “It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.” The Holy Spirit is the one who gives you guidance, shows you truth and prepares you for what is to come.
He is the one who stays with you even in your darkest moments and He is the one who prays for you when you just can’t. He is the one we walk with every day, and He is the one who we should desperately seek and work to have a close relationship with. That is why God says, He who is in you is greater than He who is in the world and if God is for you who can be against you.
My dear friend, I know your battles are tough but God is tougher, I know your mountains are high but God is higher, I know your storms are great but Jesus calms them, I know you have pain but Jesus heals more than pain, He heals the soul. That is why Jesus said, I told you this so that you can have peace.
My friend I pray that the peace of our Lord will fill you and give you rest and that all your pain, sorrows, storms and mountains will become void in His light.
