Today Reminder (Moving) – 23 October 2017

A reminder for today
He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. (Galatians 91:15)

How are you, my friend? I hope you had a great weekend and that you got in some rest. My parents are moving from the farm to a security estate in a nearby town. Life on the farm has become too dangerous for two old people and they are an easy target. If you look at the news you will see that there are many farm attacks in South Africa and especially older people are attacked. My parents have lived through three such attacks on them and finally decided that enough is enough and life away from the farm will be better.

It is a sad time for us, we grew up on that farm and it is in our blood. My kids love to visit the farm and they enjoy the open space, but at what cost. So, yesterday we drove down to pick up some of our old stuff and to help a little as the big day for the move is getting closer. The Lord gave us enough time to drive down and bring the furniture home before He blessed us with more rain.

What is hard for me and I guess most South Africans that is my age and grew up in a bit of a different environment is the way things are going backwards and all the corruption and theft that comes with a group of people that does not care much for the people nor the country. What was once a wonderful and safe place to live in is now a dangerous and hard place to live.

There are so many things we can complain about, but what is it that God wants us to see. South Africa has gone through a terrible few years and many believe that we are headed for even worse times. The fact is that God has allowed the enemy to take over where He was once the first and last on every man’s lips and heart. You see, I grew up in a country where God was first and people lived by faith, but people got arrogant and replaced God with worldly gods and turned away from God.

God wants us to remember that He is God and there is no other like Him. He wants us to move from the people we have become to a nation that places Him first again. God makes it clear that when we call upon His name He will answer. He will be with us in this time of trouble and He will deliver us from evil and bring honour back. But God must be our God and our only God and for as long as we do not turn back to Him and call His name, we will live in troubled days.

Each day in our lives should be a moving day. Moving from our past lives to a life that is there to honour God and worship Him alone. In the end, it is all about God and this life is not something that we should see as all we need. This life is just a moment until we move on to the life God has intended for us. Nothing in this world should replace God nor should anything come between us and God. We must live for His glory and in His guidance and do as He tells and live by His word, then we will have no worries and even when the world crumbles around us we will have no fear for our path is a clear path and our destiny is written in the love of our saviour.

Lord, we pack all our problems and bring all our fears with as we move back to you. Let us honour you and give you all the glory and let your light shine through our lives. In Jesus name.

Have an awesome day, dear friend of Jesus.

Cheers

Just to remind you

When I say that 'I am a Christian', I am not shouting that 'I am clean living. I'm whispering 'I was lost, but now I'm found and forgiven.'  When I say 'I am a Christian', I don't speak of this with pride. I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.   When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not trying to be strong. I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.  When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not bragging of success. I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.  When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not claiming to be perfect. My flaws are far too visible, but God believes I am worth it. When I say 'I am a Christian', I still feel the sting of pain. I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name. When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not holier than you. I’m just a simple sinner who received God...

Today Reminder – 7 August 2014 (Day 5 – Return to Proverbs)

A reminder for today Honour the LORD with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine. (Proverbs 3:9-10) When we realise that all we are and all that we are good at is a blessing from the Lord we soon see how we can honour Him with these wonderful talents. I give all the credit to the Lord for all that I accomplish and all that I do and I am humbled by the way He continues to give me wisdom in my work. The promise here is much greater than we realise. When we honour Him with all that we produce, He will fill our barns and let our vats overflow. This to me means that the more we honour Him in what we produce (do) the more He will bless what we do up to the extend where we will see His blessings and they will leave us completely overwhelmed. In the end all that we have comes from God and He will increase what we have when we seek Him above all and live to bring glory to Him. ...

Today Reminder (Boxes) – 9 November 2017

A reminder for today   I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End [the Eternal One]. (Revelation 22:13 ) When you are reading this, I will be well on my way to my parents. Today is their moving day and we are off to help. Now, when it comes to moving I am almost an expert. We moved a few times and I can tell you it was never fun. Even still today our furniture starts to shake when a truck drives by. Now moving is all about boxes. Your stuff goes into the box and then onto the truck and finally at the new destination the stuff comes out of the box. One thing I can tell you is that with every move our stuff got lesser and lesser, because I gave some away that I thought we do not need anymore. Some would think I just made it less and easier to move. I would argue the opposite, but surely everyone is entitled to their own opinion. When we look at life it is a bit like moving. You see we experience things in life and we box it. This c...
