Today Reminder - 24 May 2013 (Foolish)

A reminder for today
"And now, O LORD God, I am your servant; do as you have promised concerning me and my family. Confirm it as a promise that will last forever. And may your name be honored forever so that everyone will say, 'The LORD of Heaven's Armies is God over Israel!' And may the house of your servant David continue before you forever.” (2 Samuel 7:25-26)

So David is finally king over Israel. David stands here before God and declares himself as God’s servant knowing that God has a purpose for his life and that he seeks to fulfil that purpose by following God humbly as a servant.

My dear friend, there is much that we can learn from David and his amazing love for God. He never cared for how he looked when he celebrated his love for God. When David brought in the Ark of the Covenant into Jerusalem he danced all the way in front of it. His wife Michal thought that he looked foolish and not like a king.

David retorted to Michal, "I was dancing before the LORD, who chose me above your father and all his family! He appointed me as the leader of Israel, the people of the LORD, so I celebrate before the LORD. Yes, and I am willing to look even more foolish than this, even to be humiliated in my own eyes! But those servant girls you mentioned will indeed think I am distinguished!" (2 Samuel 6:21-22)

When we serve God we might look foolish to other, but to God we will bring great glory. It is not about how we look. It is about what is in our hearts. Remember God looks at the heart not the outside. Following God passionately will make people look funny at you in today’s world, but that is so important, because I would rather be foolish and humiliated for God, than doing what worldly people expect of me.

Come with me today my dear and wonderful friend and let us celebrate our love for God. Let us sing and dance like David, and may we look foolish like he did for in our song we will bring glory to a wonderful and amazing God.

Have and awesome day dear friend of Jesus

Today Reminder - 23 May 2013 (Better)

A reminder for today
And he said to David, "You are a better man than I am, for you have repaid me good for evil. (1 Samuel 24:17)

Wow! David is unbelievable. He had the opportunity to repay Saul for hunting him for so long and yet he chose to leave it to God. My dear friend, David is teaching us an important lesson here. Never repay evil with evil. It is much better to defeat evil with good. Let God be the one who defends you.

It is funny how the world has changed. I do not know what people are like in your country, but here they seem to have lost their consideration and love for each other. A place where it is so visible is in the traffic. When a person sits behind the steering wheel of a car they become selfish and inconsiderate and everybody is always in a hurry.
I have to turn your thoughts to Jesus for a moment. Jesus washed the feet of His disciples. So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples' feet, drying them with the towel he had around him (John 13). This is God washing the feet of mere humans. What does that tell you about how we should be to each other?

My dear friend, when you love, love unconditionally. Be humble and show love to all those around you. Jesus gave His life for that person so why should you be any different. And then I have these words in my head: “Give a little love, have a little hope. Make this world a little better. Try a little more, harder than before. Let’s do what we can do together… I have to end with my old favourite. Here are Paul’s thoughts in Romans 12.

Bless those who persecute you. Don't curse them; pray that God will bless them. Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with each other. Don't be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don't think you know it all! Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone. Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. (Romans 12)

Today Reminder - 22 May 2013 (Advocate)

A reminder for today
May the LORD therefore judge which of us is right and punish the guilty one. He is my advocate, and he will rescue me from your power!" (1 Samuel 24:15)

Saul was determined to kill David and hunted him for a long time. Finally when David had the chance to kill Saul he did not and spared the king’s life. "The LORD forbid that I should do this to my lord the king and attack the LORD's anointed one, for the LORD himself has chosen him." (Verse 6)

David calls out to Saul and says that the Lord is his advocate and the Lord will rescue him. This is such a powerful verse. A million things ran through my mind when I read this, but one stood out. I see the devil accusing us before God and I see Jesus standing up in this court and defend us. I see the Lord rescuing us from the evil plans of the enemy.
My dear friend, when you walk out today into this world remember that the Lord is your advocate. He looks at the heart and he sees us different than what the world sees us. He is your defender and your rescuer. He will lift you up from the ground and restore your place. He will wash away all the bad and dry away all the evil. He will take you and make you a warrior victorious and strong. He will renew your spirit and take away your pain.

But you, O LORD, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high. I cried out to the LORD, and he answered me from his holy mountain. I lay down and slept, yet I woke up in safety, for the LORD was watching over me. I am not afraid of ten thousand enemies who surround me on every side. (Psalm 3:3-6)

Today Reminder - 21 May 2013 (Success)

A reminder for today
David continued to succeed in everything he did, for the LORD was with him. (1 Samuel 18:14)

I guess success is something all of us seek and eventually wants to see in our lives, whether it is at work or at home or maybe it is in exercise. No matter what area in your live you dedicate time to, you want to see results. David continued to humbly follow God and God was with him, and this made David very successful and very popular.

My dear friend, I believe that without God we are struggling in vein. When God is part of you and everything you do is to glorify Him, success is automatically the result. When we follow God and seek His ways we cannot go wrong. It is a natural stumbling block to desire more and more. This is where greed and lust and all those tools that the enemy so easily uses to cause our downfall comes into play and with that comes arrogance and self-idolising.

Saul’s own greed drove him to jealousy and hatred, but David’s humble love for God made him successful. When God is for us, who can be against us. When God moves in you there are no limits to what you are capable of. When God is with you, you can do anything. My dad always said that if you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything. Today I know that if you put your mind to it and your faith in God you can accomplish anything. There is nothing that God cannot do through you and you must not forget that.

When Saul realized that the LORD was with David and how much his daughter Michal loved him, Saul became even more afraid of him, and he remained David's enemy for the rest of his life. Every time the commanders of the Philistines attacked, David was more successful against them than all the rest of Saul's officers. So David's name became very famous. (Verse 28 – 30)

God is with you, my dear friend and that makes you unstoppable. Don’t give up and don’t lose heart. Keep your eyes on God and faithfully and patiently trust Him.

Have and awesome day dear friend of Jesus

Today Reminder - 20 May 2013 (Envy)

A reminder for today
"Saul has killed his thousands, and David his ten thousands!" (1 Samuel 18:7)

The people loved David. He was victorious and God was with him all the way. This made Saul angry and jealous. His jealousy drove him to madness as he tried to kill David.

My dear friend, it is only a matter of time for jealousy to turn into hatred. I guess we all come to a stage where we are envious and we compare ourselves with other. We look at magazines and we wish we could look like someone we see or we compare ourselves to our colleagues and we often envy the one that seems to be so successful and popular. We look back at ourselves and we speak negativity over ourselves and then we start to feel negative and it just seems to snowball from there to anger and hatred.

My dear friend, God made each of us with special care. There is no need for you to be envious of anyone. It all comes down to being contempt with who you are and acceptance of what you can do and cannot do. Focus on the things you are good at and excel at them for when we master our own talents we will be successful even though we struggle at some places. Accepting who you are is the starting blocks for a new you. From here we can focus on the areas we need help with and mastering the areas we are good at. Remember my dearest friend, our God walks on water, defeated death and made the universe. The little things in our lives that we seem struggle with is nothing compared to the unlimited ability of our God. With Him all things are possible. With Him you are possible.

Follow God’s voice for He will lead you to a great you. Just remember to always give God the glory, because if we remember where it all come from we can never fail.
