Today Reminder (Trust) – 03 August 2017

A reminder for today

And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. (1 John 5:14-15)

It has been a tough week so far and with a huge work burden that lies upon us it is not easy. The moment we struggle the enemy jumps in. you cannot believe how much fear and doubt the enemy has placed on me this week. With the work that we need to do it seems as if we will not make our deadline and then with my competition mere hours away I have had some huge doubts and fears. I fear that we will not deliver a good and stable product for this release and then I doubt myself and think I am not ready for this competition. 

All these little worries add to one huge worry that pulls us down and creates fear. This where the enemy wants us to be, because then he starts to tell us that we are not good enough and the work is too much and we will never make it. He adds on and make you think that you are not suitable for this challenge and then exhaustion and depression sets in. These are great tools the enemy uses to make us think that we are not worthy. 

He tried hard, but what he forgot is that our God is a great God and just when he thought he had me, the Holy Spirit reminded me that God has a plan and He will never leave us on our own. He is with me and this project will be a huge success for His glory. I will do well on Saturday and I will glorify His name. Many will see His strength in me and many will know that my God is the creator of heaven and earth and I have only one God. They will see that I am set free by the blood of Jesus and that the enemy fear me much more than I will ever fear him. 

Satan knows that I know God is infinitely greater than he will ever be and he will see that in me. I will have no more fear nor will I doubt. I will show His glory in all that I do and I will let the world stand in amazement at the power and grace of Jesus Christ. I will let them see Jesus through my life and they will seek what I have, because I have peace and stability. I have grace and power that only Jesus can provide. I have an awesome God.

Lord, thank you for constantly reminding us that we must just trust you. Thank you for all that you do for us and thank you for your love and grace. Without you I am nothing. In Jesus name.

Today Reminder (Tragedy) – 02 August 2017

A reminder for today

For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. (1 John 5:4)

Everyday something tragic happens. A child dies, cancer takes another life or an earthquake kills thousands. It forces people to ask questions like for example if God is loving and all powerful, why is there pain and suffering in the world? Now that is a good question, but luckily the Bible gives us insight into this. 

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. That is the declaration of the first verse in the first book of the Bible – Genesis. The next few chapters we see the account of the creation over the course of six literal days, that God used to make His creation. He made light, the sky, plants and animals. God created everything and according to Genesis 1:31 God saw everything that He made and indeed it was very good. Which means it was complete and perfect. There was no death and suffering and no survival of the fittest. Animals did not attack each other and Adam and Eve did not kill any animals to eat. 

Genesis 1:29-30 makes it clear that man and animals only ate fruits and vegetables. So, the original creation was wonderful and peaceful without death. It was full of life and joy and all enjoying the presence of God the creator. What happened that this all changed? 

Something drastic must have happened and that something was sin. God created a perfect world and placed Adam and Eve in paradise. As their creator, He had authority over them and He gave them one rule. In genesis 2:17 God said but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Adam and Eve heard the rule, but they wilfully disobeyed it and ate from the tree God told them not to. They chose to live by their rules and separate them from God. Therefore, God kept His word that punishment will follow their disobedience. With the rebellious act of one-man sin entered God’s creation and death along with it. But the effects of sin did not stop there, because God had given dominion over all to man so, the sin of man affected all creation. 

In Genesis 3 we see the beginning of a cursed creation. Thorns and thistles were now part of the world as well as pain and suffering and death. The world was no longer perfect, it was sin cursed. And that is why tragic things still happen today. But before we give Adam and Eve the full wrap we have to realize that all of us still wilfully sin against God. Now that should make you pause and think.

Lord, just a thought of your amazing grace and we fall down to our knees crying out, forgive us. We are still wrong each day and we still make mistakes. Lord, give us the wisdom and strength to break this in our lives and start to leave sin fully behind. In Jesus name.

Today Reminder (Fossils) – 01 August 2017

A reminder for today

Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. (1 John 5:1)

Evolutionists says that the fossil record speaks for itself and therefore proves evolution. Well first of all evidence like the fossil record does not speak for itself. It is interpreted through a person’s world view like looking through a lens. We all have the same evidence in the present day. The same rock layers and the same fossils. We interpret this evidence in regard to the past through a lens or world view we use. 

An evolutionist will interpret the evidence through what he’s been taught about evolution and millions of years. A biblical creationist will interpret the same fossils differently through the lens of the Bible. Both are looking at the same evidence in the present but both are interpreting it differently.

When we look at the fossil record in the present and interpreting it through the lens of God’s Word we find that what we actually observe in the present confirms the interpretation obtained through the lens of the Bible. 

The best place to start is from the word of someone who has seen everything from the beginning and told us exactly what happened. That someone is God who has given us a written account of the world’s true history in the Bible. Genesis 1:1 says in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. God’s word tells us that during creation week God created different kinds of animals and plants according to their kinds. The implication is that they will produce after their kinds. 

That is exactly what we see today. An elephant produces and elephant and a dog produces a dog. On the sixth day man and woman were also created and God declared everything very good. It was complete and perfect and there was no death because there was no sin. Later on, we see that man and woman was tempted by the serpent and they rebelled against God and broke His commandment. Then sin and corruption entered the world. In fact, the entire creation was altered and it was no longer in its perfect original state. People and animals began to die, but could gradual death in such a short period of time could account for the fossil record we observe today?

To form a fossil the animal or plant must be covered quickly and since we found billions of fossils all over the world today, something should have killed billions rather quickly. Not to mention we find many fish and other marine fossils at the tops of high mountains. So what in the Bible could account for something like that?

What could cause billions of dead things to be buried in rock layers rapidly laid down by water. In Genesis 6:9 we read the account of the global flood in Noah’s day. Essentially what happened is that men were so corrupt and violent that God selected a righteous man (Noah) and his family to build a huge ark and get in it along with a pair of each land animal kind. The God calls a worldwide flood. Water gushed up from the ground and water fell from the sky. The earth was totally covered and all land dwelling creatures outside the ark were killed. It was a massive and destructive event. After more than a year the waters subsided enough so that Noah and the animals could get out of the ark.

Now what would a worldwide flood to the earth? It would have definitely changed the earth’s terrain. It would have tossed things all around and it would have killed billions of plants and animals burying them all over the earth. So, the fossil records we observe today makes perfect sense within the Biblical worldview.

Lord, thank you again for all the prove you give us so that the enemy will have no hold on us. You are our God and in you we have life, peace and freedom. Open our eyes to the lies that this world tries to tell us and let us hold on to your Word as our guide and light. In Jesus name.
