Today's thought - 22 September 2026 (The cornerstone)

 

How are you my friend? Today the Holy Spirit is taking us to Matthew 11. Jesus said in verse 4, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see”.

Jesus said that the blind can see, the lame can walk, the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, the dead are raised and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

What is salvation? Salvation is God's act of rescuing people from sin and its penalty and restoring them to a right relationship with Him. What does salvation do? Salvation saves you basically from yourself.

Jesus said in Luke 4:18-19, “The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD”.

Jesus basically confirms His deity twice here. Once reading from Isiah and confirming that this is who He is and once again to the disciples of John. Why is this significant today? I am glad you asked. You see when you realize that Jesus is the only way and without Him, we can do nothing, then you are on the path to success. Yes, we will continue on in our way of life but there will always be this deep void that we will constantly try to fill with all kinds of crap that we really do not need.

Jesus goes on in Matthew 11:6, “And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.”

Jesus says here that He is either the rock that we build on or the stone that becomes an offensive obstacle that causes us to trip. He is the precious cornerstone that we build our lives on as we trust Him for salvation, or we reject Him and face spiritual ruin.

Many stumbles at this because the world and all the world offers is just too attractive and they are basically enslaved by this need for stuff that controls them. Jesus said He came to set the captives free and to let the blind see. Now this is literal and it is spiritual, because He can heal you from all your physical challenges, but He also heals us from our spiritual blindness so that we can see the traps of this world.

So, what are we saying today. Jesus is the cornerstone on whom we should build our lives so that we can be set free from bondage and strongholds that control our minds and hearts. He came so that we can be free from a worldly need and seek a heavenly need. Our Pastor reminded us that your heart is where your treasure is. So, if you seek Jesus above all things and place Him first then you invest in your eternal annuity and this one is the important one.

My dear friend, I guess I am trying to say to you that life is really short, and it can end so abruptly. Why do you still seek the things that will destroy you and reject the stone that will give you stability and purpose? Why do we have money for entertainment and things that we do not need, but we do not sow into God’s kingdom and we do not tithe. We do not help the poor and we do not see the need of others. Jesus said that the gospel is preached to the poor. He said that we should go into this world and share the gospel. He said that as we abide in Him and He in us we will bear mega fruit.

My friend, again I say to you there is more to you than meets the eye. You are more than what the world wants you to see. You are a mighty warrior. Come with me today as we realign our lives with the perfect cornerstone and build on this stone with me as we seek Him above all things. In this you will be prosperous and you will have success and this is in all areas of your life.
