Today's thought - 17 June 2026 (Just do it)

A couple of years ago Nike came up with the slogan, “Just do it”. I loved it because I was an athlete in South Africa’s National Taekwondo team. I was light weight in our national team for almost ten years. I loved it. I loved the adrenaline before the match and I loved to compete. I won many fights, but I also lost many fights. I always taught my students that you can lose a fight like a winner or win a fight and actually lose it. It is the attitude that you compete with and how you respond to victory and to losing. I did not like losing, but I learned from it.

Hebrews 11:6 says, “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him”.

The writer of Hebrews goes on here in Hebrews 11 and takes examples of people in the Bible and how they acted on faith and the result of this. Much like I have been doing the last few days as we dived into encounters with God. Today the Holy Spirit points me back to faith and how it is impossible to please God without faith.

Faith is a lot like the “Just do it” slogan of Nike. Faith is as we saw the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen. Jesus walked in that same just do it faith when He ministered here on earth and it is the same concept that He taught when He said if you ask for it and you believe it you shall receive it. It is in this same context that He took five loaves of bread and two fishes and fed over five thousand people. It is by this very same faith He raised Lazarus from the dead and the same faith Peter used when he boldly preached the gospel and Paul when he was in prison. It is by this faith that Moses placed his staff in the red sea, and it is by this same faith we should walk each day.

We looked at encounters and the importance of walking in a close relationship with the Holy Spirit. Now the Holy Spirit is saying that it does not stop there. Now we walk by faith and not by sight. It is this just do it mentality that will help us to grow in our faith and to trust in the Lord. It is by boldly stepping out into the world and walking different, acting differently, speaking differently, feeling different and loving people differently.

It is by our full and complete surrender to the Holy Spirit and seeking Him all the time and not just for a few minutes in the morning. When my world shakes and I start to feel the pressures of this world, I turn to Him. Hebrews 12:3 (TPT) says, “So consider carefully how Jesus faced such intense opposition from sinners who opposed their own souls, so that you won’t become worn down and cave in under life’s pressures”.

This is profound for you and me as we face life’s pressures. Through Jesus Christ who gives us enough strength to overcome all, we will be more than conquerors, and we will succeed even when the storm overwhelms us.

My dear friend, I love you very much and I say this again and I want you to hear it and believe it. He who is in us, is far greater than he who is in this world and we will overcome all our battles and the Lord is preparing a table while our enemies are watching. A table of victory not a table of loss. A table of joy and not a table of sorrow. A table of abundance and not a table of pain and sorrow. A table that is full and a cup that overflows. Nothing can separate us from the love of God, and all things will work out for good. That is a Biblical promise. Just do it, just have faith.

Have an awesome day, my friend.
