My verse
comes from Ezekiel 29 which contains a series of prophecies
pronouncing God’s judgment on Egypt and its Pharaoh for their supreme
arrogance, self-deification, and betrayal of Israel.
From this jumps up my theme for time. You see some of Israel
placed their hope in Egypt as this mighty force when God does not want us to
place our hope and trust in people and worldly things but in Him alone. Thus, the
downfall of Egypt in this passage.
Now, time is
one of the things we cannot control or buy or have more of or take back, but we
can waste it, lose it, abuse it, hate it, steal it and forget it. We know time has
one constant and that is it never stops and only God can control time, yet He
exists outside of time.
What are
our time stealers? They are very familiar because they are known to all of us. Let
me introduce you to some of the main characters in the story. They are shame,
guilt, fear, hate, anger, anxiety and bitterness.
Why do they
steal time? Well because they have the ability to occupy our thoughts, steal
our purpose and destroy our lives. They can stop you from God’s blessings and
put you on a path of destruction or depression that will inevitably lead to
death. Maybe not physical but most definitely spiritual. It will keep you from
the kingdom of heaven and put you in darkness.
In Philippians
4:6-7 we read "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every
situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to
God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your
hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
There are three main things here:
1) Do not be anxious – in other words do not worry about anything and do not allow the enemy a seat at your table (in your life). Jesus gave up His life for ALL sin. Not a specific list, all of them so there is nothing He cannot forgive.
2) By prayer present your requests – meaning go to God in prayer and ask the Lord Jesus for help. Bring it all to Him.
3) Guard your heart - Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. (Proverbs 4:23 NIV). This is vital for what we allow into our hearts dominate our thoughts and eventually our lives. It is either Jesus or nothing. He should be the first in all.
So, what I am trying to get at is that do not waste your
time listening to the lies of the enemy. Take a stand and take your troubles
and your problems and your sins to the Lord and receive His forgiveness and His
peace. Stay away from worldly solutions and the wrong people. Jesus says in
John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you
as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid”.
So when you leave it all with Him, His peace will come over
you and that is what the enemy does not want because that makes you very
dangerous to the kingdom of darkness for it allows the power and the fire of
the Holy Spirit to flow in you and out of you.
My dear friend, you know Jesus died for you. Do not waste
another minute playing into the hands of the enemy. Jesus did not only die for
you but in Him you will find complete freedom from all that holds you back. He is
the way, the truth and life.
Have an awesome day.
