Today Reminder – 19 April 2017

A reminder for today
So let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding. Surely we don't need to start again with the fundamental importance of repenting from evil deeds and placing our faith in God. (Hebrews 6:1)

These public holidays and shorter weeks are confusing. Today is Wednesday, yet you think it is Tuesday and you wish it were Friday. We are hard to please, I know. In addition, in a weeks’ time we have yet another long weekend with two more public holidays. It is tough here in South Africa – hee hee. Well it is a beautiful day and with a slight chill in the mornings we can feel winter is finally on its way. Being a Christian in not an easy task and with constant attacks from the enemy, we are daily targets. Today I was reading trough Hebrews 5 and 6 and Paul writes here that he does not want to start all over again with them, they need to grow in their relationship with God. He compares it to a baby drinking milk and one moving on to solid food. He says that they continue to fall back and they do not move on to solid food in their spiritual growth.

It happens too many. We confess and we accept Jesus as our Lord, yet we remain caught up in the world and its desires that we do not move on. We kind off stagnate in our relationship with God and we allow the world to take the place of our time with God. Therefore, what happens, we sin again, we fall back, and then we need to repent again. For some the grace of God has become an excuse to sin, because they can just repent again. Funny that they miss the part where God says clearly that He looks at the heart and not the deed. It is silly to live like that and for me a waste of time. You are almost like a mellow Christian. When you start a job, you grow in that job and you want to get an increase and later a promotion. It is natural human desire to grow, yet when it comes to God, we do not.

The most important thing in life should be your relationship with God and your desire to grow in that relationship and to grow as a believer. Therefore, we must put in more effort in our spiritual growth and our knowledge of God by reading the Bible and spending time in prayer. Be part of a church and become involved in the church. These are all steps to a better life and a better life in Jesus.

Now, take time and spend it with Jesus. He desires that time with you, because you are so important to Him. He loves you more than you can ever know, so He longs for time with you. Do not miss this amazing part of life as a Christian.

Lord, we desire more time with you. I pray that you awake in us an uncontrollable desire to spend more time with you. You are our God and King and we need you more than anything else. Fill us with your Spirit and guide our feet towards you. Let us wear your armour and defeat the enemy when he comes. In Jesus name.

Have an awesome day, dear friend of Jesus.

Cheers

Just to remind you

When I say that 'I am a Christian', I am not shouting that 'I am clean living. I'm whispering 'I was lost, but now I'm found and forgiven.'  When I say 'I am a Christian', I don't speak of this with pride. I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.   When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not trying to be strong. I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.  When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not bragging of success. I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.  When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not claiming to be perfect. My flaws are far too visible, but God believes I am worth it. When I say 'I am a Christian', I still feel the sting of pain. I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name. When I say 'I am a Christian', I'm not holier than you. I’m just a simple sinner who received God...

Today Reminder – 7 August 2014 (Day 5 – Return to Proverbs)

A reminder for today Honour the LORD with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine. (Proverbs 3:9-10) When we realise that all we are and all that we are good at is a blessing from the Lord we soon see how we can honour Him with these wonderful talents. I give all the credit to the Lord for all that I accomplish and all that I do and I am humbled by the way He continues to give me wisdom in my work. The promise here is much greater than we realise. When we honour Him with all that we produce, He will fill our barns and let our vats overflow. This to me means that the more we honour Him in what we produce (do) the more He will bless what we do up to the extend where we will see His blessings and they will leave us completely overwhelmed. In the end all that we have comes from God and He will increase what we have when we seek Him above all and live to bring glory to Him. ...

Today Reminder (Boxes) – 9 November 2017

A reminder for today   I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End [the Eternal One]. (Revelation 22:13 ) When you are reading this, I will be well on my way to my parents. Today is their moving day and we are off to help. Now, when it comes to moving I am almost an expert. We moved a few times and I can tell you it was never fun. Even still today our furniture starts to shake when a truck drives by. Now moving is all about boxes. Your stuff goes into the box and then onto the truck and finally at the new destination the stuff comes out of the box. One thing I can tell you is that with every move our stuff got lesser and lesser, because I gave some away that I thought we do not need anymore. Some would think I just made it less and easier to move. I would argue the opposite, but surely everyone is entitled to their own opinion. When we look at life it is a bit like moving. You see we experience things in life and we box it. This c...
